When you create an account on Accessibility Standards Canada's website, we collect personal information. This includes your name, email address, mailing address and some optional demographic information. This information is required to give you access to our online services, such as applying to a technical committee or providing feedback on draft standards. 

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • To verify your identity and allow you to securely log in to our website.
  • To process applications or feedback you submit through your account.
  • To contact you about your account.
  • To support policy analysis, research, and evaluation.
  • For public notification purposes per section 32 of the Accessible Canada Act.

Accessibility Standards Canada employees and authorized contractors may have access to your information to support these activities.

Personal information collected by Accessibility Standards Canada will be protected in accordance with the Privacy Act. Personal Information collected by Accessibility Standards Canada may be disclosed in accordance with Section 8(2) of the Privacy Act. You have the right to access and correct your personal information. Your personal information will be stored in the relevant Personal Information Bank entitled Public Communications (PSU 914).

You have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding Accessibility Standards Canada's handling of your personal information at: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
