Our Program
Since its inception in September 2024, ABRI MARS has prioritized early-career and underrecognized artists whose practices are informed by international and polycultural backgrounds. Emphasizing conceptually rigorous and deeply intimate disciplines, the gallery centers these narratives through curated exhibitions and programming. Located in New York’s Lower East Side, ABRI MARS exists as a physical counterpoint to an increasingly digital landscape—a home for cultivating community, cultural dialogue, and experiencing the somatic nature of presence.
March Refuge
Turning to the art world as a consistent source of salience, ABRI MARS was conceived as a response to an increasingly fleeting world and the belief that art remains our most enduring source of empathy and truth. Translating from French as “March Refuge,” the name ABRI MARS honors the founder’s Belgian grandmother, mother, aunt, and uncle—whose foundational influence shaped his early immersion in the arts, and whose shared birth month is March.
