How do I enter the Online ABILITY Job Fair and is there a cost?

A Job Seeker Portal is posted for each job fair event a few weeks before the job fair begins. When the Job Seeker Portal (main event page) goes "live", you will be able to enter through the "Job Seeker Enter Here" button on abilityjobfair.org home page. You will also find a registration link on the Job Seeker Portal.

ABILITY Job Fair is free to job seekers

  • Desktop computer, laptop computer, tablet or smartphone
  • Webcam and Microphone
  • Chrome browser (only Chrome is supported)

Is Zoom similar to the ABILITY Job Fair?

Like Zoom, ABILITY Job Fair is a video experience. There are many differences:

  • Recruiter meetings are one-on-one, not group meetings.
  • Each employer has a booth
  • Registration and login are required.
  • All job seekers wait in a queue to meet the next available recruiter.
  • Recruiters invite job seekers to join them in a meeting.
  • You can request an American Sign Language interpreter
  • The recruiter has access to your resume when you join.

Who has access to my job seeker data?

Recruiters are provided access to profiles for those job seekers who have registered for that specific job fair AND have expressed interest by clicking "I'm interested" in the abilityCONNECT.online portal.

How long will recruiters have access to job seeker data?

You, as a job seeker, grant access to your profile information when you click "I'm interested" on any event on abilityCONNECT.online. Video messages and text messages sent during the job fair will be provided to the recruiter on the day of the job fair. You can deselect "I'm interested" from any employer at any time. They will no longer have access to your information. Otherwise, Employers will have access to your data for upto 6 months after the job fair.

How does ABILITY Job Fair protect Job Seeker Data?

Job Seeker data is stored on a separate secure database. Your data is shared ONLY with recruiters who are verified and registered for the current job fair. JOB SEEKER DATA IS NOT SOLD OR SHARED WITH THIRD PARTY ENTITIES OTHER THAN RECRUITER PARTICIPANTS. Additionally, you can delete your profile at any time.

Will I be asked about my disability?

By participating in the ABILITY Job Fair, which is only for job seekers with disabilities, you are self identifying as a person with a disability. Keep in mind that employers are participating because they want to recruit job seekers with disabilities.

Employers are not permitted (by law) to ask about your disability, health, etc. It’s your decision what you decide to share. We recommend you focus on your skills and experience. They can ask if you can perform the job with reasonable accommodations. Keep in mind that job fair meetings are not full interviews, so this may not come up until later in the process, if at all.

Can I attend the Career Fair on behalf of my friend, client or someone else?

No. Ability Job Fair’s purpose is to provide an opportunity for Job Seekers, not representatives, to meet face-to-face with Recruiters. Recruiters expect to meet job seekers. Also, it is against our Terms of Use policy for representatives to attend recruiter meetings.

If I do not have a disability, can I still attend the career fair as a Job Seeker?

Only job seekers who have disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act may attend the ABILITY Job Fair. You must affirm that you have a disability when you register for each job fair.

How can I view or edit my job seeker information or upload my resume?

You can now login to view your full profile on the abilityCONNECT.online app. If you have registered on ABILITYJobFair.org before, you may need to reset your password.

If you have not signed up as a job seeker Sign up HERE.

How do I register for Upcoming Career Fairs?

If you have a job seeker account, you will be notified of each upcoming job fair.

If you don't have a job seeker account: Sign up here.

Do you have real time captions in your meetings?

Yes, ABILITY Job Fair provides real time captions during each meeting. Job seeekers click CC to show captions.

I can't login. What should I do?

Confirm you are using the correct login form: Job Seeker Login

If you get a message that states "username does not exist", please try Job Seeker Account Registration

If you do not get a verification link email in your inbox or spam folder, contact us using Job Seeker Support Form. Other forms of contact will be greatly delayed.

How do I connect with a Sign Language Interpreter?

During the job fair, you will request the interpreter as you enter each booth. When the recruiter invites you to join a meeting, they will get an alert and will invite an interpreter to join the meeting. See the Demonstration for more details.

Please also indicate on your profile that you will use an ASL interpreter as that helps our team plan enough interpreters in advance.

Can I use my mobile phone for the career fair?

Yes. Mobile use is supported. However, we suggest a Tablet, Laptop or Desktop computer — a larger screen is probably a better experience.

If you are using an iPad or iPhone, please use Chrome browser.

I can't open the Job Seeker Demonstration.

If you can't open the job seeker demo, please check these steps.

  • Check that your microphone and camera are connected and working.
  • Check that you are using Chrome as your browser.
  • Check that you are not connected to a network with a company firewall.
  • Chrome will ask permission to use your camera and microphone. Please accept both.
  • Clear your browser cache.

See  Trouble shooting for more information.

Can you help me with my resume?

ABILITY Job Fair does not personally assist in resume building, however a feature for FREE evaluation appears when you post your resume on abilityJOBS.com,. This is a third-party application that helps improve your existing resume.

Also, many local community centers, public libraries, and Independent Living Centers in your area provide free support. You can also do a web search with free online resume builders that use new AI technology to assist with keywords employers are looking for.

I am not a US citizen. Can I register if I am a Job Seeker with a disability?

Yes. Hiring policies vary with each company. We encourage all Job Seekers with disabilities to register and upload resumes.

What types of jobs are available (local, remote, skills, part-time,...)?

Each career fair builds employer pages that highlight the openings they are looking to fill. To better understand the scope of possibilities ranging from where companies are hiring, skills, work from home options, etc..., visit the current ABILITY Job Fair often to see updated material per employer. Employers continue to update their material as the date of a career fair gets closer. Please keep in mind the recruiters are tasked to find job seekers that match their skill set needs.

I already have my resume on abilityJOBS.com, do I need to add it here as well?

Yes.

While both systems work to increase your chances to find employment, they are two independent systems. ABILITY Job Fair is only for employers and job seekers who attend the job fair. abilityJOBS is only for employers and job seekers who are members of the job board.

I have a different question.

If your question isn't answered here, please contact us using the  Job Seeker Support form.

This is the fastest way for job seekers to get a response. All other emails will have a delay of at least a day.
