About the challenge

About the Challenge Abihack is a Pan-African AI Hackathon organized by AlphaYele and Meraky Tech, in collaboration with Google. The goal is to bring together 300+ developers across Africa to build impactful AI-powered solutions using real datasets to solve real-world challenges. The event will be held in Abidjan from July 18 to 20, 2025.

 

Requirements

Build prototypes, demos, and community. The hackathon aims to provide access to the latest Google tools and APIs, foster networking and collaboration among tech enthusiasts, offer a platform for developers to showcase their talent, and spark interest in technology and innovation to encourage local solutions.

The overarching theme is "Turning AI's Opportunity into Reality for Africa: Chase The Future," with project categories focusing on:

  • Future of AI x Work: How AI can shape the way we work in Africa, develop solutions that revolutionize productivity, create new job opportunities, and drive economic growth across African industries.

  • Future of AI x Software Development: How AI can shape software development, create tools and frameworks that empower African developers to build more efficiently and unlock new possibilities in software creation.

  • Future of AI x Creativity: How AI can shape creativity in Africa, explore how AI can enhance creative expression, preserve cultural heritage, and amplify Africa's diverse artistic voices.

  • Future of AI x Entertainement: How AI can shape entertainment in Africa, build next-generation entertainment experiences that celebrate African stories and connect audiences in new and innovative ways.

What to Submit

Participants must submit:

    • A GitHub repository with their code

    • A video demo (max 3 minutes)

    • A project brief outlining the problem, solution, and impact

    • Final submission form via DevPost before the deadline
