4DO is a low-level emulator based on FreeDO code which allows you to play the entire catalog of the 3DO console, which was released in late 1993 and discontinued in 1996 having sold around 1.5 million units. Thanks to this emulator you can enjoy some of the console's most iconic titles, such as Jurassic Park Interactive or Killing Time.
Simple installation and setup
This version of 4DO is very easy to install, since, if you do not have Microsoft Visual C++ and Microsoft .NET 4 Framework installed, which are required for it to work properly, it will install them automatically. A key aspect to consider is that, depending on where you install the emulator, it may not work correctly. So, if it does not open after installation, try uninstalling and reinstalling it directly in C:/4DO.
Load your preferred BIOS
To make use of 4DO, just as with many emulators, you will first need the console's BIOS. The BIOS is not included in the download itself, but it can easily be found, as it is available in the Internet Archive. Once you have loaded the BIOS (there are several different options and they all work correctly), you can load the ROM of any game.
An expansive and varied game catalog
A complete compatibility list for the console can be found on the official 4DO website. Almost all ROMs work perfectly. You can play almost every game from start to finish. This includes legendary titles like Gex, Road Rash, Lucienne's Quest, Night Trap, Primal Rage, Battle Blues and Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S. All these games are almost perfectly compatible.
Configure this emulator in just a few minutes
One of the most common problems users encounter with 4DO is that you have to create a control profile for each video game. This means that when you load a game for the first time, you may have to configure the keys on the keyboard or gamepad. The emulator is also fully compatible with Xbox or PlayStation controllers, so you can play any of the titles mentioned above with a controller.
The best 3DO emulator for PC
Download 4DO and enjoy one of history's forgotten consoles. The 3DO never gained much traction and was always in the shadow of the original PlayStation or the Sega Saturn. Almost all of the games are available on other platforms, but some titles remain exclusive to this console. And with the help of this emulator you can play them comfortably on your PC.
