The Kursk submarine, officially known as K-141 Kursk, was a Russian Oscar-II class nuclear-powered submarine that tragically met its fate in August 2000. This submarine became infamous due to the Kursk submarine disaster, one of the most devastating accidents in naval history. During a naval exercise in the Barents Sea, an explosion occurred on board, causing the submarine to sink. The tragedy claimed the lives of all 118 crew members on board, highlighting the dangers and challenges of underwater operations.
