United Hook & Ladder Fire Co. #33 puts the highest priority on providing timely and adequately staffed emergency response to the community that we are privileged to serve.
Operational Fire Membership
Operational Fire Members aged 18 and over participate in fire and rescue activities of the department including fire suppression personnel, rescue personnel, fire police, emergency medical technicians and responders, and apparatus drivers.
No experience is necessary and we offer free training. As our volunteers are “on-call” 24/7, we offer two different ways to respond. When an emergency call comes in:
Most of our volunteers respond when they’re available to their assigned station from home or other locations. This is a great way to fit volunteering into your busy lifestyle and schedule.
Live-in firefighters respond directly from the firehouse and receive free room and board in return for running emergency services. This is a great opportunity for college students and those looking to gain great experience in a firehouse environment.
Social Membership is for adults who are unable to, or do not wish to, participate in fire and rescue activities of the department. They may hold administrative positions, assist with fundraising, and participate in assisting operational members.
These members include administrative and fundraising personnel, canteen members, and members who have retired from operational member status.
Junior Firefighter Program
The Junior Firefighter program is our youth program for young adults age 14-17 that offers an excellent opportunity to learn teamwork skills and mature into responsible and contributing community-focused adults.
Junior Fire members must have completed the eighth grade in school, be at least fourteen (14) years of age, and must also provide a School Work Permit and parental permission to participate.
