Some places we've been and some places we're going.

Ullapool to Stornoway

Our position on the ferry seemed a bit precarious until the ramp was lifted up to horizontal then the car was secured and we went up to find a good spot. I was sick the last time I went on the ferry so had already taken medication but Alex and I still planned to stay outside for the two and a half hour journey, hopefully facing in the direction we were traveling.

The sea was calm and the forecast good so with no problems we were able to move freely around. Some passengers preferred the comfort of the lounge but there was infrastructure immediately in front so only nice views from the side windows.

After about two and a half hours because the sea was calm we reached Stornoway. Coming in to Harbour there was a cruise ship already berthed but it was clear that a new area had been created specifically for these vessels and coaches take the passengers to the town and round about.

Lena is our chauffeur for a trip to the Isle of Lewis where there are not only some amazing things to see but some special people too. Family. First she drove from Inverness to Ullapool where we were to catch the 10:30 ferry. The scenery on the way was glorious.

There was quite a line up, we were number two in the queue….to queue. After some time we were directed into position in the carpark but it was still had over an hour to wait until we could board so we walked about the town and then went for hot drinks at the Caledonian Hotel.

Alex needed to put more money on his phone Sim card so we went to Tescos at the Retail Park and after the young fellow had jumped through all the hoops necessary to make his phone usable internationally we went to see what was displayed at the Sunday Market.

I’ll let the photos tell the story.
