Letting Go of Dreams

Today I let go of a dream.

I threw away a game that I bought many years ago. It is a really simple dominos game. Like many old board and card games I have possibly outgrown, I simply kept it. Let it collect dust in my cupboard and its components turn yellow.

Looking at the rotting thing and its other aging companions in my cupboard, I wondered last night why I ever kept them. I don’t think I was holding on to them. I was holding on to some dreams, hopes and wishes they represented.

I was holding to the dream that my mom and I could have a fun and playful relationship well into my 20s. I was holding onto the hope that one day my brother would play opposite me, battling out typical sibling rivalry through board games.

It took years to realize some dreams aren’t meant to come true. And Continue reading

A Cursed Love

I should be used to the arguments and insults exchanged

But each time you leave me more devastated than the last.

The fight comes to an end but the pain remains unchanged

As we are both doomed to these vile reiterations of the past.
Maybe the problem in this relationship is you or maybe me

Or that this whole relationship is a complete cosmic mistake.

But I am bound to you by the blood in each vein and artery

And burdened by an unconditional love I can no longer take.

There are times I really wish I could switch off my emotion and cut ties with everyone. I don’t want love, family, friends or anything else. I just want to be alone. I would rather be lonely than depressed from arguing with a loved one. I will be fine after some time because you forgive and forget but then history is bound to repeat itself and it is the future repeat of this I dread more than the present sorrow. This one post will hopefully be the only sad one, this is a humour blog I am proud of and I want to keep it that way. Sometimes, you just want to be raw, real and honest and this was one of those times.

The Perfect Comeback to Jerks

To all my fellow ladies out there, have you ever dealt with a douchebag? A tool? A perfect MCP? I am not sure what that one means but my Mum told me it was one of her first impressions of my Dad so I can easily assume it’s not nice. Don’t worry, they are still happily married, they just happily argue some times.

But I think I have the perfect comeback to those jerks and I think it’s really simple.  Continue reading

The Liebster Award!

I am so excited to say that I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Trina (itsgoodtobecrazysometimes). It is my first ever award nomination and I am over the moon about it – which human does not like some good old validation? But seriously, a really big thank you and hug to Trina. Do check her out, she is a very funny and kind person and her positivity regardless of what life throws her way is inspiring. My favorite posts of hers are the parenting moments she shares, they will always leave you smiling and make your day. Here are a couple of my favorites:

You Can’t Beat Those Moments
Make Me Feel Better

The rules:
1. Write a blog post about your nomination, displaying an image of the award.
2. Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.
3. Answer the 11 questions that the person who nominated you asked you in his/her blog post.
4. Nominate 5 to 11 other new bloggers who you think deserve this award and come up with 11 questions of your own for them to answer.
5. List these rules in your blog post.

Now onto the questions Trina asked me:

1. What film or TV programme sums up your life today?

Please do not judge me but I feel like the main lead Tanaka in the Japanese anime Tanaka-kun is Always Listless. All I have done today is lie in bed, eat Domino’s and watch TV and you can see the likeness to the character’s description below:

A listless student who is always dozing and acts exhausted when awake. He can sleep in almost any location, but prefers to be outside when he does so. His uncaring, sleepy nature forces Ohta (a fellow classmate) to carry him to and from multiple locations quite often.

2. What do you  have to take with you when leaving the house? Continue reading

Blind Date 101: You know love isn’t blind when..

And now I am even more wearier of blind dates!

Maneecure's avatarbeingmantastic

We do blind dates right? Every one does blind dates, now that it’s become to easy to swipe right.

Thank you, Tinder.

However there exists  fine line between an awkward date and one that has descended straight from hell. Here are some situations when you just know you should dial 911:

  1. His mom drops him to the venue promising to pick him up at 9
Thanks ma’am. And you should know I charge $13 an hour for babysitting.
  2. He smells like he hasn’t seen a bar of soap for ages
At least I know what to get you for your birthday.
  3. He takes you home to introduce you to his lancet collection
That’s definitely something you should’ve mentioned in your bio dude.
  4. He proposes you for marriage.
    Umm..Thanks but no thanks.
  5. He wants to click pictures of you as ‘evidence’ to show his buddies.
The last time I checked this was NOT an episode…
