Boys and men who have experienced sexual trauma deserve access to professional responses and supportive services that reflect an understanding of the unique ways in which male survivors are affected by trauma. Having this knowledge – and putting it into practice – is critical for male survivors of all ages to be able to seek justice and healing.

All training requests must be made by completing the Training Request Form. You will be asked to provide contact information, the specific training or type of training you’re interested in receiving, as well as basic logistical information (date, location, audience size and type, virtual vs. in-person training, etc.). When the form has been submitted, a staff member from Zero Abuse Project will review your request and reach out to you regarding next steps.

Many trainings can be offered in either a virtual or in-person format, and some individual trainings can be combined into a single instance of virtual or in-person training. The format that is best for you depends on your organization’s budget, specific training needs, and unique circumstances.
All trainings – whether in-person or virtual – include electronic copies of training materials. Additionally, all trainings can be customized to meet the unique needs of your organization or team.

Anthony Edwards is probably best known as Dr. Mark Greene on the series “ER,” as well as Goose in “Top Gun.” In addition to being a Golden Globe-winning actor appearing on stage and in premier Hollywood films and TV, he is also a survivor who served as the Chairman of the Board of 1in6. He travels to universities, military bases, and beyond to raise awareness about the impact of sexual abuse on male survivors.
Anthony is available on a limited basis to provide keynote presentations, as well as training co-presented with a child abuse expert. Time for Q&A and photographs with attendees is included. Please note that due to his busy schedule, his availability is prioritized for events that will have the greatest reach and impact.

In this workshop, attendees will receive an overview of the impact of trauma on children with a special focus on how sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other forms of trauma impact boys.
This workshop explores research on the sexual abuse of boys and offers concrete suggestions for conducting forensic interviews with boys, investigating these crimes, and presenting these cases to a jury.
Utilizing current trends, this training for all members of the MDT explores how online child sexual exploitation incidences have evolved from "just pictures" into the investigation of child sexual abuse material.
This session will discuss the prevalence of DV, the intersection of DV and child maltreatment, and how these behaviors permeate the day-to-day climate of the home, leading to the cycle of abuse being handed down from generation to generation.
This training will look at considerations for serving justice-impacted and system-involved youth, including currently or formerly incarcerated youth, and/or youth concurrently or previously accused of crimes or misconduct.
Utilizing case examples from universities, faith institutions, and youth serving organizations, this workshop identifies dynamics within institutions that may make it easy for abuse to take place and to be ignored or even covered up.
This training provides a critical and supportive look at the challenges faced by survivor-professionals—those individuals who have a history of trauma or maltreatment and are currently working in child protection or victim services.

The forensic interview is where the most detailed accounts of abuse are gathered. This training discusses the importance of self-care for the forensic interviewer and how individuals, organizations, and systems can best support frontline professionals.

There’s a collision that goes on in the lives of male survivors between their masculine codes and their lived experience of trauma. This 2-hour training explores the ramifications when these two forces collide, and how this understanding is key to providing male-centered engagement in trauma recovery.
Truth Telling is a 1-day introductory training on men’s developmental trauma, with a focus on childhood sexual trauma. It offers a primer on the theories and approaches to working with male survivors – a necessary precursor for engaging with this population therapeutically.
This 1-day training, based on trauma-informed research examining the links between male childhood abuse and intimate partner violence (IPV), offers a more nuanced, respectful, and promising approach to clinical intervention related to IPV in group or individual contexts.
This 2-day training combines the right balance between conceptual issues that impact men, the relevant research relating to men’s developmental trauma (with a particular lens on childhood sexual trauma), all with the focus on clinical engagement in individual as well as group interventions.
This 3-day training combines trauma theory and practice – with an emphasis on cognitive, psychodynamic and experiential approaches – to address practical and clinical concerns in order to empower frontline professionals to intervene with men who have experienced trauma.
This 1-day training delivers what many mental-health professionals, sexual-trauma services and frontline workers request most: a step-by-step training on the process of intake, assessment and the curriculum basics for first-stage engagement with male survivors in individual or group settings.
As healing cannot occur in isolation, group work is a preferred model of intervention with vulnerable populations of all genders. This 1-day training explores group process and the skills and techniques to allow for dynamic yet safe engagement with clients, helping practitioners to add group services.
Emotional Integrity is both a core value in the psychotherapy field as well as a core outcome in clinical work. Based on 25+ years of providing the Emotional Integrity group therapy program to men, this 2-day training helps practitioners to bolster the psycho-social needs and skills of their male clients.
This 1-day training emphasizes a variety of clinical strategies when working with male survivors, focusing on psychodynamic and experiential approaches. A balance of trauma-informed and strengths-focused strategies will be presented, applicable to both individual and group engagement.
