-Hymn Preface-

If the Bible, which is God's Word, is a treasure trove of life, the hymns praising God will be the expression of a life of faith overflowing with gratitude and emotion from the saints who have received the grace of forgiveness.

This is like the wings of an eagle flying from the ground to the sky, and it can be said that it is a joy like a ladder from the finite world to the eternal world. Ephesians 5:19 in the Bible says, "Respond to each other with poetry, hymns, and spiritual songs, and sing and praise the Lord with your heart."

Today, Korea has a history of 76 years since the Gospel of the Lord came in. And in this history, there have been many foreign exchanges and internal rains resulting from various persecutions.

However, the rare advancement in world missionary ideology is to be greatly appreciated. I only believe and appreciate that it is a special blessing from God, who kept guarding him from various difficulties.

First of all, it is said that the history of this hymn cannot tell the story of only one denomination. Looking at the history of this hymn, a hymn book was published in Korean as a rain in 1893 68 years ago from now and in 1897. The Methodist Church published two books, "Hymns" and the North American Presbyterian Church, "Hymns". In 1918, a joint hymn was published as a united in chapters, while the Holiness Church General Assembly also published the Gospel in 1911. Later, the "Theocratic Gospelist" was released as an additional edition. Again in 1928, the “Shinjeong Hymn” was published by the Janggam Association, but due to circumstances, the purpose of common use was not established, and everything is one of the remarkable history. Therefore, the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church produced a separate "New Psalm Song" of 400 sheets, while the Holiness Church reorganized the first "Gospel Song" into a "Revival Song". In this way, our Korean church hymns sometimes had a history of name or separation due to changes in quantity and system, and also gave rise to different kinds of history that were woven separately depending on the church.

In the midst of such a history, this hymn issue was reorganized on August 15, 1945, along with the liberation of the motherland. On the other hand, it is an unforgettable history of Korean hymns that the General Assembly of the Goryeo Dynasty has used the biography "Shinpyeon Hymn" as it is. In addition, this "joint hymn" was once again a few chapters at the preparatory general meeting in 1953, but the revision was passed, and as the years passed, the song song was separately compiled due to the WCC ecuminical problem in terms of translation and inspiration. Although the problem came to be one homework, and the motives were different, the Goryeo General Assembly formed a hymn compilation committee from 1957 and promoted it for several years. In 1959, the Yejang General Assembly withdrew from the WCC and ecuminical After deciding against the movement, until then, the "Joint Hymns" publishing project was also declared one of the ecuminical plans, and at the same time, at the same time, they formally formed the hymn compilation committee. From the standpoint of the company, he was looking for a new start, but on December 13, 1960, the two general meetings saw a joint meeting, and as one of the commemorative projects saw the resolution to publish a new hymn, a new spur was put on this project. This new hymn book came out as a result of the research and repeated meetings over the years while pursuing a specific publishing business, and it was called "New Hymn".

In a little more detail about the process of this "New Hymn" book, the first joint committee gathered will be based on the first half of the "Shinpyeon Hymn" when making the publication plan, and then select from dozens of different church hymns from Europe and America. We established the basic principle that we will do our best to perfection by making up for the blind spots so far, while at the same time trying to directly translate the original work by finding out in detail the lyrics, composition, date and time of the publication, and the history of publication. It was conducted in the order of selective translation and editing, considering the relationship with other denominations that would stand in the conservative camp of conservative beliefs. Therefore, the publication of this hymn has undergone a developmental reorganization of the hymns of each of the denominations mentioned above, and although we ourselves are one, we are in a hurry to create a "joint hymn" with only the joy of liberation and have no determination to study it. Since there is only one flaw, we have strongly demanded that it be a hymn from meaningful people. In response, we did our best to cook and supplement, but we hope that there will be more opportunities to make up in the future as there is no fox in the future.

Finally, there were various difficulties in releasing this "New Hymn", but we cooperated with "The Word of Life" to complete it, and we hope that it will be a hymn book for the entire conservative camp in the Korean Christian world.
