Frequently Asked Questions

What is the eligibility criteria?

You must be an active apprentice or trainee during the period of 1 June to 31 May the following year. Note each category has a different criteria and it is recommended that you view the criteria on each category page before selecting the best criteria that suits your nomination.

How many categories can I submit a nomination?

You can apply for one category only each year.

How do I apply?

Contact your 1300apprentice Apprentice & Trainee officer to obtain a nomination form. Your nomination must be supported by your host employer and your 1300apprentice Apprentice & Trainee officer.

Once the endoresement is approved, match your achievements to the awards criteria, then submit your nomination form and supporting documents (limited to 5MB).

Eight categories are:

Safe work practices award
First Nations apprentice or trainee of the year
Women in trade award
School-based trainee/apprentice of the year
Rising star of the year
Adult apprentice of the year
Trainee of the year
Apprentice of the year

What is the process of selection?

Nominations are assessed based on the information provided and will be assessed by a panel.

All nominations must be received by 5pm on the closing date, with winners announced in soon afterwards.
