A drive up from our campsite took us up windy roads up through burnt out forest up to a beautiful canyon. This was the National Park of Mesa Verde.
Mesa Verde has lots of dwellings carved into the cliffs. We took an Indiana Joneseque path down steep ladders led by a Park Ranger in their iconic uniforms, whom showed us around and described the dwellings. Getting in and out was no easy task and climbing up steep ladders on the side of a cliff is not for those who suffer from vertigo!
Some of the pictures from above are also of the Cave Palace ad other shots of the park as we sat and ate our lunch
In fact with so many pictures I was able to make a photosynth (GO SEE)!
We headed back out onto the road to continue our journey. Here is some of the landscape of Utah.
