Makartsteg Bridge was named after the 19th century Historicist painter Hans Makart, born and raised in Salzburg. The current bridge is Salzburg′s most modern bridge in the city centre and it is already the third Makartsteg. The opening of the Modern Makarsteg, as above,  occurred in 2000. The symbiosis between this modern and absolutely beautiful bridge and the Baroque architecture  inherent to the city is fascinating.

A Ponte Makarsteg foi assim chamada em homenagem a Hans Makart, um pintor do séc. XIX, nascido e criado em Salzburg. A ponte actual é a mais moderna do centro da cidade, sendo já a terceira. A inauguração da Makarsteg Moderna, como a vemos acima, ocorreu em 2000. A simbiose entre esta magnífica ponte moderna e a arquitectura Barroca inerente à cidade é fascinante.
