Good Friday, my peeps! I am rather late for Friday Fictioneers, though technically, I should be considered right on time, right? Strange situation. This week, our hostess with the mostest has chosen a photo by Sandra Crook. A lovely photo it is and thank you, Sandra! Should you want to play along, just click on my frog below and you can add your link to your 100-word story. If you’re unsure of the ruls and regs, click on Sandra’s photo and you’ll jump over to Rochelle’s where they will be found. G’head, it’s fun!
She could never be accused of being a neatnick in her home – it was clean, just not necessarily spotless. There was, however, that one window she kept crystal clear. Just outside said window was an old fence that had a forever-changing lace curtain of spider webs. Their dew-enhanced beauty as the sun shone through them inspired her. Sitting in her comfy chair she would throw her dreams and thoughts to be caught. Sometimes it was best (and less painful for her) if thoughts were softened before she uttered them et dixit magna. Too bad she couldn’t carry it with her…
Good Monday evening! It’s Quadille Monday on dVerse and Lillian is hosting. This time she has asked us to use the word “Silence” in our 44-word poem.
Stepping outside, my boots crunch on snow
I stop, realising there is nothing else
No traffic, no hum, no chirp
Utter and total silence
I cannot help but stand still
And allow myself to be swallowed
By the deafening nothing
Knowing it won’t last
Good Wednesday eve, my peeps! Gotta hit the hay but wanted to submit first. Rochelle, did, after all, choose my photo and I do hate to be rude 😉 Should you desire to play, please click on my frog below to add the link to your 100-word story. If you’re not sure on the rules and regs, do click on my photo so you can swerve over to Rochelle’s pad to get them!
I hate to appear ungracious or unappreciative, truly I do. And I do everything in my power to keep those thoughts deep inside and out of my face! I hate even more that I feel the feeling in the first place, especially when I know full-well the intentions are honourable and heartfelt. They always believe(d) they (were) are giving me what I wanted and, technically, they were. Just not quite. A tad off. Yes, I wanted a (fill in blank) but the style that I truly desired? Not what you gave me. Am I an awful person for thinking this?
Good Monday. I admit this is an easy and fun challenge and must thank Judy for hosting it and sending me down memory lane ever week (that I participate)!
Good Wednesday Thursday morning. It’s Friday Fictioneers time and Rochelle has chosen her own picture to inspire us. I thought I would have time to finish this yesterday but nope. Should you wish to play along and need the rules and regs, just click on Rochelle’s picture and you’ll be redirected to her joint where she gives you what you need. Already in the know? Then click on my frog and drop your link! Have a marvellous day!
“Hey Johnny! Let’s go sit outside. The sky is on fire tonight! It’s gor–ge-ous.”
“How cold is it?”
Moira opened the patio door and stuck her arm out to gauge. “It’s perfect. Bring a blanket in case.
Grumbling he has work to, he nevertheless grabbed the blanket. Moira ignored him, knowing he would follow.
“I don’t know why you can’t just come quietly, John. Why must you always complain, first?”
“I’m not complain–” Moira’s look stopped him. “Fine. I do.”
Stepping onto the balcony, Moira sighed her pleasure. “Do what you will. I’ll enjoy regardless.”
“Heyyyyyy!”
Moira smirked.
“Coming!”
Was working on stuff last night and got side-tracked and then forgot to press publish! This Monday, Judy over at Life Lessons, gave us the number 235 – so these are what popped up. Mostly. Some were dissed… As per usual, I got lost in the blog posts they were associated with. I do love this game 😉
Good Wednesday, my peeps! Over here in Montreal the sun is shining. It’s still a tad chilly: -4C, feels like -8C (25F/18F) but that’s fine by me. The lunchtime walk is nigh.
It is also Friday Fictioneers time. This week Rochelle has chosen a photo by Lori Wilson to inspire us. Should you wish to play, click on my frog and hop on over to the squares and add your link! If you need the rules and regs, click on Lori’s photo and you’ll jump over to Rochelle’s blog where you will find them.
Working in a diner kitchen off Route 66 was not part of her plan. Plan? What plan? After finishing high school she didn’t know what she “wanted to be when she grew up” so she didn’t apply for university. Working for a bit would hopefully inspire her. So here she was at Shelly’s, making breakfast and lunch options composed of the usual unhealthy fare: eggs, hashbrowns, disgusting (to her) sausage gravy on biscuits, burgers, fries…
Despite the menu, she discovered she enjoyed and had talent in the kitchen. “I know what to study now! Culinary Institute of America, here I come!”
It’s Prosery Monday on dVerse. This week, Mish is hosting and she pulled me in with the request we use the line “Lips forget what they have kissed” from the wonderful Toni Morrison’s poem, Eve Remembering. The line must be used in prose, not poetry, and we must use it in the order it is written, no inserting of any words within the phrase. The punctuation can chance but nothing more. Oh, and we have 144 words at our disposal!
After three long-term relationships, spanning a good thirty years, I suddenly found myself without a partner. Very unusual for me to go solo for any length of time, to be honest. Of course, the last one ended in death so there was a period of mourning involved. I won’t lie. I didn’t wait years and years. Life must move forward and staying home and crying wasn’t going to bring him back and since I wasn’t dead yet, I had some living to do. Lots of it, it turns out.
But oh man. Meeting someone at the age of 50? All gung-ho, I signed up for various dating apps.
Jesus.
Chatting with friends about the various experiences, one said “Thankfully, lips forget what they have kissed… Right?”
The number of frogs out there is staggering. The worst ones are those who think they’re wonderful. So not.
Good Wednesday my peeps! Not only is it Hump Day and Members-Only Day at the MMFA (going to see the Richard Avedon exhibit after work), it is opening day of the weekly Friday Fictioneers Challenge. This week, our lovely hostess has chosen a photo by wonderful writer David Stewart. Click on my frog below to read other interpretations of this lovely photo or, g’head… add your own link! The how-to can be found when you click on David’s photo and stroll over to Rochelle’s blog. Till then, have a fabulous day!
She was not a fan of the “eat-at-your-desk” thing. It was important, nay, paramount to her well-being to step away from her desk for her lunch hour. Half hour to eat a healthy meal (mostly – nothing wrong with a splurge now and again) followed by a half-hour stroll made all the better by listening to an audio book. Pouring rain and extreme cold were the only times she didn’t venture out (She could not very well bring her snowpants to work now, could she? She could, but she’s not that crazy.)
Mental and physical health were not to be dismissed.
