let's take our time: embrace the power of patience
moving at your own pace isn't just okay - it's essential.
OMG! It’s officially the first Wednesday Word of 2022 and I’m so grateful I can share with you.
Wednesday Word has a new home now, over here at Substack. The reason for this change is you can make comments, like and so on PLUS, it’s easier to share with your tribe. I hope you like it!
The last two Wednesday Words have been about taking your time and I’m starting the year talking about it too.
I want us all to be intentional & deliberate with
our time
our energy
our relationships
our bodies
Being intentional & deliberate allows you to be present and being present offers you a chance to see things you’ve been missing.
This morning I took time to be intentional & deliberate and boy, do I feel good.
While preparing lunch, I cut up the vegetables nicely and placed them in my container in a way that is pleasing to me.
I placed a new comforter on my bed - I’ve been meaning to do it but I’ve been rushing all the time.
Even while I was focusing on being intentional & deliberate, the urge to rush came over me while I was doing my skincare routine. However, I lovingly told myself “slow down”.
The shift from rushing to slowing down allowed me to make space for gratitude and allowed me a chance to reset my energy. I was able to notice my skin, give thanks for my skincare products & just enjoy the simple pleasure of applying moisturizer to my face.
Being intentional & deliberate about my skincare routine didn’t stop me from getting ready on time, it enhanced the experience.
I know, I know, you have time constraints & deadlines plus there’s just soooo much to do and not enough time.
I’m prone to telling myself the same thing but we’re reframing our narrative . I dare you to join me on this journey of redefining what is possible.
If you want the perfect example to guide you on your path to intentionality & deliberateness look no further than nature. A flower is going to bloom when it’s the right time. A baby needs 9 months to be fully developed. There’s no rush, just intentionality & deliberateness.
Here’s the thing about rushing - it never really works. You know when you’re rushing out the house ‘cause you don’t wanna be late and then an accident happens or the road you usually take is blocked? That’s a sign to slow tf down.
You will get there when you are supposed to, if you are supposed to.
While you use the next 360 days to move towards the life of your dreams, move with intention, move with awareness & move deliberately knowing that you need not rush.
Capitalism says “go, go, go”, give yourself permission to do something different. You just might like it.
Happy New Year - here’s to being intentional & deliberate from this year onwards.
