I come read things on LJ frequently, but rarely post anything these days. Lack of time, energy, and too many things going on that are no fun to talk about. So here is the mixed-bag catch-up:

Anyway, best wishes to all still here for a great 2016. Waiting semi-patiently for January 24.
Peeking out of my warren to say hello. Hope your day was filled with chocolate wafers and other good things!
I had worked up a fine head of steam about the early openings of stores. Thanksgiving is not a way station -- it's a holiday! People should be spending time with family and friends, not planning their assault on the mall or the big box store, or having to go work there!
My favorite thing on Black Friday is not to shop. I spent a number of years in retail and no deal is good enough to get me out the door to stand in line. I'd rather do without, thanks.
I will, however, go to my favorite small gift stores on Saturday and spend a little money.

I'm helping the local economy and having a good time doing it.
Edited to add: what a nice time, walking a short block with some very nice gift shops. I found some great gifts -- some of which are by local folks -- and felt like I was making a contribution to the local economy. Ate at a local restaurant as well. Seems like a lot of people knew about the "Small Business Saturday" as the local TV stations mentioned it too.
