<lj:music>Northern State - Nice With It</lj:music>

Hey all of my 3 or 4 readers.

I don't update very regularly anymore. I'm just so busy but not with anything overwhelmingly remarkable and so I feel no need to update most of the time. Right now I'm really only doing it because I have not much else to do. I'm stuck at home by myself. I can't go out because I lost my key and I wouldn't be able to lock the door. Its not so bad though. I get to smoke in my house since nobody is here. Which is pretty neat.

I've pretty much just been working and hanging out lately. Lake Compounce consumes my life most of the time. Things are OK there, I'm just sort of ready for that part of my life to be over. It's such meaningless unsatisfying work. But it gets me some money, as limited as it may be. I'm supposed to be saving for my trip to Florida in two weeks but I am really bad at being frugal. I only have $80.

I've been having some wonderful times this summer. Exploring Massachusetts with Ally, smoking a lot, ending up at random beautiful beaches, traveling through beautiful scenery, sharing great times with MJ and Tom. Stuff has been really cool.

And right now I'm listening to the most perfect music. The Books. It's on shuffle so it will only be The Books until the end of The Future, Wouldn't That be Nice? but it's so great for this moment actually.

I'm going to a Rave in August, I think. It's in New Hampshire. It's called Mario Party and it looks like a lot of fun. Mario everything. You can play Mario on giant screes and there is going to be a lazer tag room called "Bowser's Castle." And there's going to be people wearing nintendo character costumes. There's also going to be bumper cars and a mini roller coaster. It sounds wonderful to me.

I had a great night last night with Shayne and Josh. They're moving to Boston soon so it was good to see them before they left. We watched funny Harry Potter things. It was great. Josh also burned me a Wizard Rock mix that I haven't listened to yet. I might do that soon.

Anyway that's all I can ramble about right now.

Sooooo hello

I've been at school for two weeks now. I actually surprisingly like it. I like my classes, my professors, etc. I'm doing a lot of stuff on campus. I joined the queer club, I joined a campus magazine called off-Center which I may or may not be published in. I'm joining a campus activist group called 1 in 10. I'm training to be a DJ on the campus radio station. I'm also going on a free trip to Washington DC with this native american club that I have friends in. So things are pretty cool.

I have no job and no money, but I have a meal plan so that's good. I haven't smoked since I got here, but that should hopefully change today. It's beautiful outside today.

I miss all my friends in new york but I don't miss hating my life, so it's bittersweet. I'm going to see Hair on broadway for my birthday with Ally, so that's very exciting.

My roommate is pretty cool, he's from Dubai. We went to Starbucks today and talked about classes, alcohol, and shisha. My suitemates are not too obnoxious and I can live with them.

By the way, the new Joss Whedon show Dollhouse starts this coming Friday, and I am more than excited.

I went to Harlem for lunch today with my FYM group. We had to do this project where we were assigned an area of the city to explore, and we got Harlem. We decided to stay in spanish harlem. We went to this really cute mexican restaurant. There was this scary guy who kept trying top put his headphones in our ears. It was hilarious. We all had burritos which were HUGE and we took a bunch of pictures like idiots. It was really fun, and it was a nice day for it.

Tonight, I might go to this free rave in Brooklyn. It's free, which is good, and it's in Brooklyn, which is good, and it's circus themed. You can't get much better than that.

Anyway, goodbye.

<3

So, today was a great day at work until this asshole John ruined it. He totally belittled me and acted as if he was way above me and told me how to do my job and called me out on everything, when in reality he has no authority over me at all. it pissed me off so much I was on the verge of tears when I was telling one of the managers about it. She made me happier though.

What makes me even happier than that is Semi-Precious-Weapons at The Annex tomorrow. I need an SPW show. I also just found out I'm going to be on the guest list, which fucking rocks.

Oh shit, it's like already Sunday. I should get some sleep.
I hate this world that we live in. I hate the people who live in it. I hate our society, our legal system, our traditions. I hate everything.

I hate the violence and the hate and everything that i can't stop. I am so helpless. I can do nothing. I can try and try to teach others and try to help people but nothing will stop the hate or the violence, it will always be there.

All of these horrible things happen every day, and nothing I can do will stop it. All this fear and anger caused by little things such as gender identity will never go away.

We live in such a fucked up place, and nobody seems to think about it. Nobody cares. It's awful. We live in a world where you have to fit into everything correctly, or you're hated. Why? Why is there so much anger?

I can't deal with it. I can't deal with it. Why are transgendered people murdered every day? It makes no sense to me! It kills me, it honestly does. The fact that this happens physically causes me pain.

And i'm selfish, I'm so fucking selfish. I'm not perfect, and never will be. I hate the way I look, and I will never be good enough for myself. I think about all these things whjile there are people being brutally murdered and beaten daily. I can only think of myself and the problems I have and I never stop to think about how awful things might be for someone else.

And this makes me hate myself more.

Everything is about hate.

I have so many questions. So many questions that can't be answered.

Why is there such a fear about gendere expression and identity in this world? Why are animals tortured every day? Why can I do nothing to stop this?

Why must people hate themselves and their bodies? WHy must I wish I was someone else every day?

I wanna feel happy about this world, but I can't because it's so fucked up. I wanna feel happy about myself but I can't because I'm so fucked up.

I want to feel nothing. I want nothing. I want to be numb.

Short essay on prostitution and morality.

Whore
by Brandon Fisette

Oh, prostitution. No matter what I say on the topic, it will always and forever remain a taboo in mainstream popular and political culture. But, maybe I can change a few minds on this touchy subject. I will NOT write this essay in paragraph form. It is not meant to be nice to look at, it is meant to get a point across. I feel that prostitution should be legalized. Oh my god, he said it. To tell you the truth, I would never hire a prostitute, but I feel that prostitution can be a very professional business. There are a few reasons people would like to keep prostitution illegal. One of these reasons is because in many cases, prostitution is not consensual. I say that unconsensual prostitution should remain illegal. It is basically rape. What should happen is that people who wish to make prostitution their careers should register with the state and get a license to maintain their own personal business. People who are registered with the state as prostitutes should be required to receive STD testing twice a month, or else their license will be revoked. This will cut down on diseases spread through prostitution. Arresting someone for having sex and accepting money for it is ridiculous. If both people in the act of the intercourse are doing this consensually, i do not see how anything illegal is happening. Likewise, arresting someone for hiring a prostitute is ridiculous. They are paying for somebodies services, and there has never been anything wrong with that. Whats going to happen next? Are repairmen, plumbers, psychologists, DOCTORS, etc. going to be arrested for having people pay for their services? Just because their services don't involve sex does not change the fact that it is a legitimate business, as is prostitution. Another reason prostitution is being kept illegal is because of religious reasons. Ever heard of separation of church and state? I mean, come on, what other reason can you find really? You're going to say something about morals. Morals go along with religion. If morals are what decides whether an occupation is legal or not, then I think cigarette companies should be illegalized! Aren't they constantly hooking teenagers and creating things that decrease health? Isn't that immoral? If you believe everything should be based on moralistic values, then a whole messload of things should be illegalized. If prostitution is done in a respectful, consensual, professional, safe manner, then why should it be illegal? Is sex really that big of a vice? Now, please take into consideration that I have not specified male or female prostitutes before you jump down my throat by saying "prostitution is misogynistic and demeaning towards women." I am not glorifying prostitution. I am simply stating that I see no reason for this to be illegal. There is obviously a religious agenda behind this law, and I do not believe that religious agendas should exist behind the law.

Thank you

<3,
Ziggy

I wrote an essay about what it means, to me, to be queer. Read it if you'd like.

Queer Conformity
by Brandon Fisette.

Being queer, to me, is something completely special and unique. It is something that only a few amazing people can actually experience. The queer community is a community of people who love each other and help each other out and care about each other, for the most part. This community, that I have loved for so long, is beginning to turn into something else. Instead of supporting each other, and makign the community a safe place for everyone, it is being turned into an oversized political campaign for marriage. At almost every queer event, the main topic is marriage. Marriage, marriage, marriage. What happened to our love of being unique? What happened to our love of feeling special? How can we be special and unique by assimilating into heterosexual culture and caring only about marriage? We have always been a community that is ABOVE marriage. We have always beena community that can have long-lasting monogamous relationships without needing the political ties of marriage. Why is the community losing this? It has always been said that, in heterosexual culture, marriage is the ultimate goal. Theres always this picture of "the american dream." A man and a woman fall in love and get married. They start a family. The mother stays home to tend the kids while the father goes off to work to support the family. Marriage is based on heterosexual misogynistic traditions which people base their lives on, therefore falling into this conformist ideology where everyone is the same. I do not want the queer community to fall into this. We have forever been a community of people who are different and, i'll use the word again, unique. We cannot be unique if we assimilate into the general belief that marriage is the ultimate goal. Soon, everyone will be the same. I do not want this to happen. Marriage will also set up gender roles. A queer marriage will be almost identical to a heterosexual marriage in its gender roles. One person will be considered the "masculine" one, and she/he will go off and work and support the family. The other will be considered the "feminine" one and she/he will takje care of the kids. I know this is an outdated philosophy, but it is true. The queer communit has also always been above gender roles. We never needed them. Oviously, we shun them. Gender is another obstacle we have to get by as a community if we want to be viewed as real people. If we all start getting married, then we can never disassociate ourselves from these roles. They will be forever instilled upon us. The queer community has almost been brainwashed into believing that marriage is the only problem facing us. It definately is not. Why not fighting against homophobic violence? Why not fighting for a universal health care plan, so that all of us can enjoy our health, instead of just the wealthy married ones? Why not fighting against illegal pre-emptive wars that affect us and everyone in this country? Instead of only caring about ourselves, why don't we fight for an end to poverty, better human rights in third world countries, and cures for dieseas such as AIDS/HIV? Because the community is BLIND. The queer community is brainwashed. It's dying. The gay rights movement started off with radical riots against discrimination from police. Now, it is turned into a conservative movement that holds festivals in which people speak about marriage and sell you stuff, and they call them rallies. The queer community, for the most part, is blind. As I said before, I consider being queer to be something unique and special. I do not believe that you can be unique and special in a community which is trying to instill the same beliefs on every person who is part of it. The conformity must be stopped, in order to ensure that we remain unique. That we remain beautiful.

<3,
Ziggy
