Howdy!

I’m Buzz ✌🏼 a British/Australian dad, designer, and creativity enthusiast living and working remotely from a tiny beachside town two hours south of Sydney, Australia. I like making the web a more connected 👯‍♀️ and less boring place 🫠.

It’s me. That’s a sign of love 🖕

I do my best work when mixing leadership and hands-on design. I love helping people inject creativity, fun, and collaboration into their work.

I’m happiest when I’m tinkering and helping others succeed — whether that’s by building design tools, creating effective team processes, speaking, or coaching. As a designer, I’m passionate about solving tough human problems by combining clever technology and beautiful design. I’ve done that as Principal Designer at Help Scout, Buildkite and Atlassian; as Design Director at Campaign Monitor and Sendle; as Design Lead at Skype, and as a general dogsbody at a handful of design agencies around the world.

I also founded my own product, Prevue — a design presentation tool that, at its peak, was used by over 40,000 agencies worldwide to share millions of concepts and gather client feedback. I built and managed Prevue for over a decade until its acquisition in 2018. Along the way, I taught myself to code, sharpened my visual design skills, and came to deeply understand the business side of design.

Software is cool, but…

I spend a lot of time offline, too. Before designing for a living, I was a competitive sailor and coach — teaching all ages and abilities while competing in internationally recognised events. I worked as an ⛵ Olympic sailing coach and spent time living in the Mediterranean before realising it might be time to pivot into software. It means my mind is never too far from the ocean, and I care deeply about a healthy work-life balance. When I’m not online, you’ll find me outside with my wife and kids — travelling, swimming, sand-running, or riding motorbikes.

Say Hey

I’m always up for a virtual coffee and a chat — just drop me a line and we’ll set something up. Alternatively if you email, I promise I’ll reply.
