HEAD OF CLOUD PLATFORMS · VANGUARD  //  INDIE MAKER

I architect resilient systems — and ship small ones
in public.

I'm Yoni Ryabinski. By day I lead cloud platforms at Vanguard. Nights and weekends, I design and ship a portfolio of small, privacy-first products — the kind built by the person who actually uses them.

01 / Who

A resourceful, full‑stack builder — at enterprise scale and at indie scale.

Resilience isn't only an architecture pattern.

Across 20+ years building secure, large-scale systems — a decade of it at Vanguard, after earlier roles at Accolade, Wipro, and the U.S. Department of Energy — I've specialized in resilient cloud architecture on AWS. That work has taken me to AWS re:Invent in 2019, 2022, and 2023, and to AWS re:Inforce.

Outside the day job, I build small, privacy-first products in public. Several started as tools I needed myself: Emcognito grew from an email-anonymizing platform I prototyped years ago; Nightlamp from a distributed host-health monitor. The common thread is the same one colleagues have named for two decades — a true full-stack engineer who's "extremely resourceful and creative in resolving problems that others walk away from."

"An extraordinary Cloud Architect who is a true full-stack engineer — from hardware design and assembly, to devops, network design, and software development."
— Gregory O'Neill, Senior Software Engineer

03 / Building

One maker, many products.

Small, sharp tools — most of them privacy-first, most of them built because I wanted to use them.
