Yeon Cafe at Taman Pelangi in Johor Bahru offers a relaxed café experience grounded in Korean-inspired flavors. This spot strikes a balance between a cozy indoor setting and a casual vibe that suits small groups looking to share familiar yet comforting dishes like bibimbap, kimchi fried rice, and tteokbokki. The décor leans towards peacefulness without overwhelming bustle, making it a reliable place for lunch catch-ups or weekend afternoons with friends.

Several visitors appreciate the café’s halal certification, which broadens its appeal among local diners seeking Korean flavors prepared with local considerations in mind. The menu features a range of savory options alongside sweet treats like moist cakes and tarts, often praised for their texture and flavor—even if prices lean toward the higher side. Portion sizes are moderate, encouraging sharing rather than solo feasts, which fits the social nature of the space.

Outdoor seating is currently limited due to ongoing construction, but the promise of alfresco dining adds a layer of versatility for future visits. Parking is convenient, with ample spots right outside, making it easy for those driving in from around town.

Yeon Cafe is particularly suitable for those who enjoy a calm place to chat over food and drinks without the noise of a full-service restaurant. Though the space can fill up during peak times, the friendly and attentive staff contribute to keeping the atmosphere welcoming. Drinks such as their fruit teas and specialty coffee blends complement the menu well, though some drinks can be lighter than expected in taste.

Overall, Yeon Cafe fits well into the local café scene as a spot for casual Korean-inspired dining with a peaceful atmosphere, catering especially to friends and family groups who value comfort food paired with a quiet environment.

Good overall, nice cozy and peaceful ambience. Wide array of dishes and a lot of Korean options on the menu. We especially liked the cakes which were nice and moist! There is also an outdoor area which looked like it was undergoing some construction but would’ve been a nice alfresco area. Plenty of carpark lots right outside the cafe as well.

A pretty cafe with nice food and cosy ambience. Staff is friendly and polite. We like almost all the food we ordered but the cheesy foam drink is a bit too light for my liking. Portion might be small for big eaters but you can order a few items to share. I love their original fried chicken, kimchi soup and kimbap. Their cakes and tarts are pretty good too although the prices are a bit high.

love the food and the fruit tea especially. we manage to get a table when we came in and it was kind of full house. good place for girlfriends to eat and chat or anyone who loves Korean food can come here too. even though some desserts and food was oos, we manage to try the bibimbap, creamy noodles and also truffle unagi udon (not in pic) the fruit tea is a must get, I thought it will be those typical unsweetened teas but nope, it was very refreshing.

peaceful birthday lunch with customised cake at this iconic Korean-inspired cafe in Johor Bahru! • my cake turned out really good! The food is delicious as ever always a comforting place to come back to… They’ve recently announced their Halal certification, which is a great news! Been here a few times, honestly one of the best cafes in JB! Keep it up

came for dinner on a weekday, and the shop was quite empty and quiet, with only songs behind. we were shocked that the drink and cookie only arrived when we were already halfway through our meal, and that was after we asked for them. but luckily the staffs were nice and approachable. the matcha tasted strong enough even with the foamy cream, but it would be nicer if they reduced the amount of syrup. the army stew was decent and refreshing, love the portion of the ingredients, but our favorite was the kimchi fried rice with cheese around the edge, utter perfection!! the desserts were actually very nice, ordered both the cookie and the cake (the cake was a year+ ago)and they werent too sweet, just the right taste if ure craving something sweet but dont want it to be overwhelming.

Modern Korean cafe and restaurant with rustic feeling ambience. Quiet environment, very chill and relaxing ambience for quick coffee and meetups. Tried their food, the food were mostly alright. Average. Fried chicken bites were tender and nicely seasoned. French fries even better. Teokbokki not too spicy, but I find veges were too little. And the sauce abit tio salty. Pineapple yuzu tea was delicious. 9/10 for me. No complaints Mochi waffle was alright, taste of mochi waffle is nice with the fruits, but the mangoes were too sour for me. Then the whipped cream that came with it had a weird aftertaste. Ice cream with the waffle instead of whipped cream will definitely be better. Overall I will still come back to try different items. But I do hope you increase your portion sizes for food as I think its too expensive and the aesthetic vibe doesn't make up for it.
