My name is Yang Zhou, a PhD candidate at New York University.
I am a Ph.D. researcher and robotics engineer specializing in real-time perception, multi-robot autonomy, and high-speed aerial robotics. My work focuses on building learning-enabled robotic systems that operate reliably in complex, GPS-denied, real-world environments, with an emphasis on end-to-end deployment rather than isolated algorithms.
My research interests lie in the intersection of Robotics and Computer Vision. You can visit Research to know more details.
I have designed and deployed autonomy stacks for agile quadrotors and heterogeneous multi-robot systems, spanning visual–inertial state estimation, collaborative perception, learning-based planning, and control. My research has led to multiple publications in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, ICRA, and related venues, and my systems have been validated through outdoor field deployments and human–robot interaction experiments.
Beyond research, I am deeply invested in systems engineering and open-source robotics infrastructure. I maintain Rust-based robotics frameworks Copper-rs for autonomy and middleware, aiming to improve performance, safety, and reproducibility in robotic systems. I am particularly interested in bridging research and product, translating advanced perception and autonomy into scalable, real-world robotic platforms.
