Layer 7 : Fill the layer with #bd91bc and set it to Overlay at 70%

Layer 8 : Fill the layer with #5d8961 and set it to Overlay at 50%

Layer 9 : Create a gradient somewhat LIKE THIS (the white was transparent) and set to Soft Light at 80%

Layer 10 : Take this texture and set to screen.

I used this pic.

1. First crop, resize, sharpen the pic.

2. Duplicate the base twice. Put both on Soft Light, opacity 100%.
Merge your layers.

3. Open up a new canvas 100x100 px with a white background and copy+paste this brush (by my_givenchy) on it.

4. Copy + paste your picture on the brush and set it to Lighten, opcity 100%. Move your picture around until you like the place.

5. Then I wrote 'That look in your eyes' with the font 'Angelina' on 11 pt in black (#000000).

6. Then I duplicated Puss and pulled it to the top. Set it on Soft Light, opacity 100% so the colors a more brighter.

And that's it!

STEP 1

Start a new image but make sure you set the backround contents to TRANSPARENT

Paste your picture into the second layer

STEP 2

Image >> Adjustments >> Curves...

you should get somethig close to

STEP 3

Make a fun little border... I desided to go with ...

Copy and Paste it on your image...

Select all around the border (with the magic wand tool) and delete the picture ( should be layer 2 )

Then in LAYER 2 make a few adjustments in Image >> Adjustments >> Color Balance

You should be left with ..

STEP 4

Add some text and your done... I've used AL Charisma at 24 px

How to make a zip file

I credit this for a friend but I thought I'd share it here.

Step 1: Open up My Documents (or where you store your photos on your computer)

Step 2: Go to the folder where you put your Shirley photos (in this case, I just went to one of my folders of photos.)

Step 3: Press the Ctrl button on your keyboard and the A button to select all of the photos in the folder.

Step 4: If there is photos or a photo that you don't want to include in the zip file you'll be creating simply hold down the shift key on your keyboard and left click once on the photos you want to leave out.

Step 5: Right click with your mouse on the files that are highlighted in the blue and go to about the middle of the menu that pops up and go to send to and then in the menu that opens after that, left click on compressed folder. (if the menu doesn't look exactly the same, don't panic)

Step 6: You should have created a folder.

Step 7: Now it's time to upload your folder. Open up your browser and go to http://www.yousendit.com/

Follow the directions on the page and you are done!

Layer 1: Start out with this picture, I've edited Ashley out with the stamp tool.

Layer 2: Take ( #092c43 ) color fill in the layer ... set it to Exclusion and Opacity to 80%

Layer 3: Take ( #e2d2c2 ) color fill in the layer ... set it to Multiply and Opacity to 50%

Layer 4: Copy and Paste Layer one and Disaturate ( shift + ctrl + U ) then set to Soft Light and Opacity 30%

Layer 5: Copy and Paste layer 1 and set to Soft Light at 50% Opacity

Layer 6: Set a 1pixle border around the image

Layer 7: I added tiny text under the mirror, just set any font to 1 pixle and write some stuff.

Layer 8 & 9: Add these textures....I've had the opacity at 10% on layer 9 and at 50% on layer 8

How to create a friends filter for your friends list

Ok this is my first tutorial so please be patient and any feedback would be great. You are going to learn how to create a friends filter. This is a timesaver big time because if you just want to check what your "friends" are saying your friends list or if you want to just see what your icon communities have posted. It makes life easier.

Start at the livejournal front page and go up to the menu and go to manage -|> friends

Go under the tools you see there and click on Edit Custom Friends Groups

Ah so much to see here. As you can see I already have custom groups in there but to create a new one click th e new button

Name it whatever you want. I called this one fandoms

See, it's in that list on the left now and it's automatically selected. Now in the middle box you see that there is a list of everyone you have listed as a friend.

To add your friends you want in this filter just left click them once and then click on the arrows in between the middle box and the right box. If you want to remove them from that filter, just click on them in the right box and click the arrow that is pointing towards the middle box. Make sure you click the Save Changes button near the bottom.

Alrighty! Now that the filter is complete you probably want to get on it right? Click the menu again and click manage -|> friends. Under the tools click on Friends Filter

Now you can see the groups you have created (forgive me, I didn't click save changes so the fandom filter got lost, see what happens!) you can click on the links and you can go to that filter

Layer 2: Duplicate layer 1 and grayscale it ( ctrl + Shift + U) and set Opacity to 50%

Layer 5: Set Gradient to Soft Light

Layer 6: On a new layer use white to bring out highlights like cheeks and black to darken the shadows like lips then set to Soft Light

Layer 7: Set (#032657) to Exclusion

Layer 8: Duplicate Layer 2 and set it to Soft Light

Layer 9: Set a 1px border around it in (#032657) color

AND YOUR DONE

TIPS: to this particular picture I did not add a brush because her earing and hair is very busy but to other pictures I recomend setting a fun border or a brush ( Usually set as Soft Light with ether a Drop Shaddow or Outter Glow)

This tutorial is different there are 2 stages... preparing the picture and then making it into an avatar

Stage 1 Preparing the Photo

--Sharpen the image 2 times

With the Blur tool go over the skin to make it smooth to your likeing.

--Go over the face and darken (Burn Tool) the chin line, neck and the inner and bottom lip line
Then lighten (Dodge Tool) under the glasses and under the bottom lip

--Smooth everything over with the Smudge Tool -- Make sure not to go crazy with it, just do it lightly and hardly touch the lips

Stage 2 Making the Avatar

Layer 1: Leave the Edited picture as it. If you choose not to Prepare the image you should sharpen twice and smooth over skin

Layer 2: Duplicate layer 1 and grayscale it ( ctrl + Shift + U) and set Opacity to 50%

Layer 3: Duplicate layer 1 and set to Soft Light

Layer 4: Set Gradient to Soft Light

Layer 5: Set Gradient to Soft Light

Layer 6: Make a new layer and set it to Soft Light then draw on it with black and white highlighting and shadowing parts of the face. Then Grab the Smudge Tool and go over it smoothing it all out set the layer to 60% Opacity

Layer 7: Set (#05093d) to Exclusion

Layer 8: Duplicate Layer 2 and set it to Soft Light

Layer8: Take the brush and apply in (#e2a06a)color // remove the narly thing over her eye or just flip it and use it on the side
Set an Outer Glow in (#fff2de) color also screen it and set Spread 17 and Size 5
Set the whole brush to Multiply
