I... am not in love with this one. I don't hate it, not by a long shot. I just can't shake the feeling that something's not quite up to snuff, but can't pinpoint what that is. Except for the picture of Oliver. It's, like, impossible, to find a cap of him smiling. Smiling with his eyes open is even harder. Anyway. Here's what happens when I go out of my comfort zone.

Howdy, strangers!

My old laptop was getting a bit dodgy--nothing like the display just turning off or the battery going from fine to dead faster than I could get it plugged back in. So, though my credit card bill will be a extra painful, I decided it was worth the cost to actually have a reliable computer.

Still obsessed with Arrow. Naturally this means my first Photoshop sessions on my shiny new laptop (I named it Starling. See? OBSESSED.) are Arrow related. I'm only sharing the Olicity one; the other one is boring and not worth sharing. (Ooo, a QC logo on a solid backgr-zzzzzzz. Told you it was boring.)

I feel like I'm supposed to be too old for this shippy stuff. And then I remember who gives a fuck, seriously, rite? Right.

My Photoshop skills are...what's beyond rusty? Decayed like the Titanic? (Too soon? I'LL NEVER LET YOU GO, JACK. God I hate that movie. I mean, Billy Zane with a gun was. not. helping. Jeez, hairpiece, pick your battles. I digress. As ususal.)

So anyway, crumbling, sunken unsinkable super-liner skills aside, I made icons! Just three, but a gal has to ease into these things. And, it was fun! I forgot how much I enjoy making them. I do hope to get some more done in the not too distant future, hopefully a little better quality as I get back to being comfortable in PS--and try to remember all that I've forgotten, which is a lot.

Here they are, for your pleasure. Or for your disdain if you're all like, "Daryl Dixon doesn't belong with anyone but ME!" (And no one blames you for that, because we've all been there. If you say you haven't, your pants are probably on fire. Best check.)

I really thought I'd moved on from caring one whit about Spike & Buffy. However, judging by the way my heart thumped and I got a little happy flutter in my stomach when I read the following, I was so, SO wrong. I WILL LOVE THEM FOREVER AND EVER.

Joss Whedon: You know what, I liked Spike. With Angel it’s too “Romeo and Juliet”. Which means, as soon as it happens you’re bored. Riley, you know he was a well-adjusted person who loved her in a much, much healthier way than the other two guys. Nobody wants to see that. With Buffy and Spike, they had a real Beatrice and Benedick kind of relationship, in “Much Ado About Nothing”. All of my screencap zip files were hosted on Megaupload. (In case you've been out of the loop, the US Government shut down Megaupload last Thursday.) I've not uploaded the files elsewhere. Yet. I'm not even sure if I have all the files any more, as I tended to delete stuff of my hard drive after I put it on MU. Anyway, to finally get to the point of this post, let me know if you want any caps. I'll see if I can find the files and get them available to download. :)

It's almost time for me to leave for Dragon*Con and I am BESIDE MYSELF. I'm excited, and nervous, which is weird, but there you go. I'm weird, which should come as a surprise to approximately NO ONE. It's going to be a slightly different experience for me this time around, what with having all sorts of different fandoms now, instead of being focused mainly on the Whedon stuff. True Blood, Being Human, Doctor Who (Seven will be there! HOW EXCITING!), Smallville, Vampire Diaries, Star Wars (Princess Fucking Leia, guys), the skeptics and space tracks... I sense being very busy, and being very disappointed that I can't be in two or three places at once.

I have food, I have nerdy shirts (one I even made myself using this stencil. Oh my GOD, the DRAMA of that. Things I suck at: t-shirt painting. Even with stencils. ESPECIALLY with stencils), I have gel inserts for my Chuck Taylor's, and Aleve, and ThermaCare heat wraps (because I am OLD), I have new cute underthings (you never know, amirite?), I have an ice pack (because there will be hangovers), I have drugs to keep me from pooping, I have drugs to make me poop, I have drugs to help me sleep, I have things for stains on clothes. I have a HOT PLATE, for Pete's sake. And yet, I keep feeling like I've forgotten something major and that whatever it is will show my complete failure as a human being and will make this trip the worst ever in recorded history. I will, in all likelihood, contract dysentery AND drown trying to ford a river. You know what would've made the Oregon Trail easier? Wal-Mart. Evil, sure, and I never ever shop there in my day-to-day life, but their ubiquitous presence sure is handy in a pinch.

So. There are my neuroses on display. hahahaha

I always say I'll try and post during the con, but that never actually happens. I won't make any promises, but I will say that my new phone makes stuff like that way easier than my old Blackberry...so, maybe?

Meet Henry. He's a dead English guy with a thing for punk rock. You know, like that other dead English guy who has a thing for punk rock. (That sounds faintly ooky when it's all typed out, hahaha!) I stumbled into Spirited in a fit of boredom and I'm utterly enamored of it. Thank you, Australia! ♥

Here's the promo for the upcoming episode. All you really need to know is that she's alive, he's a ghost, she's the only living person who can see him, and they're each other's TWU WUV. This show, and this 'ship, fill all my romantic, so-sweet-it's-almost-diabetic-coma-inducing needs.

You'd think it would be hard to find a character OOC when all prior knowledge of that character comes from a scene in a movie lasting no more than two minutes, right? But you'd be wrong! Turns out it's surprisingly easy. I AM TOO PICKY SOMETIMES.

Tangentially related, any Thor/Marvel fans out there really should check out this amazing story: Gift of Asylum There's smut. Delicious, wonderful smut. Okay, the smut's just in the beginning--so far. Somewhere along the line a plot wormed its way into the whole thing and now the story is fantastic on all sorts of levels. It's a WIP, which I tend to avoid, but this thing is like smack. Clint Barton/Darcy Lewis. Sex. Snark. Laugh out loud humor. ~~Nary a Pop-Tart in sight (adios, fanon)~~ crap, found some Pop-Tarts on my re-read. sigh. What more do you need? This story, btw, is not the one that has me rolling my eyes at myself over my redonk OOC criticisms. Honestly, I love Gift of Asylum so much I couldn't criticize it if I tried. Even if it deserved it--which it definitely does not. I need to get to writing up an entry for het_reccers about this story--if someone hasn't beaten me to it, that is. I also have to see about getting a Hawkeye/Darcy icon. Hmm.

Anyhoozle, it's time to stop avoiding the overwhelming Monday-ness of today and get back to work. Take it easy, f-list! ❤

I've started reading Eric/Sookie fan fic (not because I ship them like burning or anything, mostly I'm just here for the pr0ns and I'd rather read Eric/Sookie than Bill/Sookie because Foghorn Leghorn sex IS NOT SEXY) but I keep running into the same problem. Namely, Eric using "lover" as a (questionable) term of endearment or as some sort of show of how AMAZINGLY sexual a creature Eric is. Which, uh, it's totally not. I'm not the only one who thinks this, right? Like, now all I can see in my head is a True Blood version of SNL's "Two Wild and Crazy Guys" (starring Eric & Bill... Take a moment to picture that in your head. - - - - - - - - - - - You're welcome.) trying to pick up the ladies with lame lines that end in "lover." And that ruins my porn reading. (Not really.)

Is this a character ~~flaw~~ trait from the books, does anyone know? If yes, consider the following a brief open letter.

Dear Charlaine Harris:

Having Eric call Sookie "lover" is not nearly as seductive as I think you think it is. Please make him stop saying it. It genuinely calls into question the assertion that Eric is supposed to be sex on legs. Because when he says that, he's totally not. I'm just sayin'.
