AT6 Report

You are probably wondering why I decided to make a report for AT6 now, after so many months! I don’t really know. Maybe it’s because I’ll see Amanda again in a month or maybe it’s only because I finally have time to sit down and write my memories and impressions.
Obviously I can’t remember all the Q&As but I’ll try to do my best to tell you what happened.

AT6 started for me on Friday. I arrived at Ren in the afternoon and it was amazing to see again the friends I had met before (AT5 or Chevron 7.8).

SATURDAY

Q&As

Q: Favourite sport?
A: She used to play volleyball at school. She also likes skiing

Q: Baddie or goodie?
A: It’s more fun playing a baddie

Q: Favourite story or movie to convert in a tvshow?
A: She said that lately Olivia changed her interest from Disney princesses to Big Foot! She then showed us its walk! Really funny! And she repeated “the walk” several times during the weekend.

Q: Supernatural?
A: At the time she couldn’t say anything about it. She had a gag order. She only said that she was an angel and she had a lovely office.

Q: Never thought about developing a comedy?
A: She’d like to see a “reverse-The Big Bang Theory” where geeky girls date handsome men!

Q: People she’d like to meet (from past or present)?
A: Her great-great-grandmother, Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Tesla (the real one), Edison, the Queen…

Q: Is she still in contact with SG1 actors?
A: With Chris and Teryl not very much. She sees Michael all the time since their kids go to the same school. She said that he’s getting better with the age, while when she first met him she thought he was cute. She also said that RDA has a nice bum!

Q: Better working on a movie or a tvshow?
A: The filming schedule in a movie is slower than in a tvshow. However actors are still actors, it’s really the same. A crossover between the two world is always possible.

Q: Advices for someone who wanna try becoming an actor?
A: To find a good agent. Vancouver is a good place to find a job in a scifi show.

Q: Thoughts about Peter DeLuise?
A: A generous man. He always got a sparkle in his eyes when het got some new ideas…usually not present in the script!

Q: Would she have changed anything about Sam’s development?
A: She thought about it a little and she said “ahem…nothing”, but then she added “going to the cabin!” I got confused by this answer ‘cause Sam did got to the cabin! Anyway Amanda said “going fishing with Jack once he is not her CO anymore”. And yeah she was totally talking about fishing! She said they deserved it after all those years as CO/2IC.
She added “they are probably fishing right now! Wait, what time is it?” She checked her watch (it was 1.40pm) and said “ok maybe they’re not fishing right now, probably they are having lunch…or a nap!”
Amanda also said she didn’t like Sam in Atlantis. She was kinda frustrated about her role.

Q: Auditions in the beginning of her career?
A: She had her fist audition when she was 18. Her dad drove her and waited for her, expecting a rejection. Instead she got the part and she decided to go to a theatre school in Toronto.

Q: John/Helen relationship?
A: Very complicated. There’s a desperation in them. They loved and hated each other like nobody else. Amanda said that John isn’t dead.

Q: Helen/Tesla?
A: In s4 there’s more flirting between them. Helen did spent a lot of time alone during those 130 years so maybe she decided to explore that option at some point. Amanda talked about the goodbye kiss in the season finale. She said laughing she has such a tough job since she has to kiss all these guys!

Q: Best things about directing?
A: The overall vision of the episode. Working with the actors. It has been a big challenge for her to test her skills outside Stargate and Sanctuaty. For example it was hard for her to disagree with others, like Martin or Gillian in Primeval, but she stood with her decisions. She’s proud of that.
She also said that Martin interviewed her through other people before hiring her.

Q: I don’t remember exactly but it was something about the green screen and games…
A: I do remember that Amanda said she sucked even with Packman!

Q: Did she hear her dubbers?
A: She heard Japanese, Polish, French and German version of Sam’s voice.

Q: A fairy tale character? (like OUAT)
A: She’d be Rapunzel.

Q: Taken Back
A: It was fun playing a crazy nasty woman. Liberating and even a little scary. It felt weird shooting to a bathroom room!

Q: Would she encourage Olivia if she wanted to become an actress?
A: Olivia would be an amazing actress. She has a great memory. She can do Scottish and British accents. But she is very shy. She has been offered a part when she was younger but she would have to stay in a wood, during the night and pretend to be very scared …she replied “no way!” Amanda said that Olivia could be a good writer too.
She told us again about her evening ritual with her daughter before bedtime (the dream train).

Q: Have she ever read a fanfiction?
A: A couple. She really doesn’t have time for that. She said she read a hot Janet/Sam fic and a real-person fic where she had an affair with Robin (O___o). She remembered some lines like “no no Robin I can’t do that to Alan…” She said it was too weird and she didn’t finish it (thank God I may add!!!)

Q: Pranks on set?
A: She has been the victim of many pranks. She has the giggles and Robin was a victim of them when she was directing him ‘cause he couldn’t stay serious.

Q: ..don’t really remember, something about being one of James Bond’s girls I think…
A: I do remember her saying that Sean Connery has been the best James Bond.

Q: When did she decide to become an actress?
A: She joked saying that his twin brother thinks she was a drama queen even when she was still in their mother’s womb. He says that he was ready to be born but she pushed him away because she saw a light!

On Saturday I got my photo op with Amanda and I surprised even myself because I talked to her! I asked her if she saw the vid I had made for her bday last year. I explained her which song I used, that it was an action vid about Sam and Helen but she said no, she didn’t see it. I told her I hoped she had done cuz some actors retweeted it, but no she said she was sorry but she didn’t see it.
I was really sad for this but on the other hand very proud of myself because I actually talked! No endless tears this time! …well it was the 3^rd time I met her! LOL
Anyway a couple of weeks ago through twitter I finally managed to make her watch the vids I made for her past bdays!!!! *jumps around*
I also like my photo with her! XD

I got a photo with Julia and the Olympic torch too.

Even before the auction started I knew I wasn’t going to bid for anything because the items were too expensive for me (and I also knew which people were going to bid :P), but like at AT5 I loved watching it ‘cause Amanda was very funny and she moved around the room to show the objects.

SUNDAY

During her first panel she asked us if we had had fun during the Ball. She said she had though about joining us but she fell asleep and woke up when it was too late for it! LOL
She also noticed that Dennys and Ken were missing, she laughed and said “They really had fun yesterday, didn’t they?”

Q&As

Q: Sanctuary’s series finale, the explosion?
A: A new Sanctuary has been built underground so in Damian’s mind it wasn’t the ending but a new beginning. Amanda said that the year after Sanctuary’s cancellation had been the scariest one of her life. She also said she turned down an offer for a new tvshow because she didn’t want to stay away from home for so much time.

Q: RAOR?
A: Her character is out of control. Playing her it has been both scary and sexually liberating. She had fun on the set.

Q: Charlotte back?
A: It never worked out to bring her back in other episodes.

Q: Olivia? (I don’t remember the exact question)
A: She was born at 6.29…without drugs to relieve the pain, Amanda added proud of herself! She said that it was the coolest night ever. From the moment she was left alone with Olivia she didn’t sleep, she spent the night talking to her, cuddling her and breastfeeding her.

Q: Gabit’s events?
A: Her first reaction when they proposed to organized an AT event was “you are crazy! Who’s gonna come?”

Q: Who does inspire her?
A: Her fans. When she feels low she reads the letters of her fans and that helps her. Then her mum and her grandmother.

Q: Best kiss on the screen?
A: She thought about it a little. She said that her husband is really a very good kisser. She named RDA, Zack Santiago, Sandrine…she said she couldn’t choose.

Q: Taken back. Based on a true story. Where’s her character now?
A: Probably locked up somewhere.

Q: Differences between a Canadian and an American production?
A: No differences in term of production. You got more money with an American production. For example SG1 was a huge machine. Sanctuary instead had a little budget but she was proud it was a 100% Canadian project.

Q: Cholera in Haiti. S4K?
A: There’s a lack of proper medicaments. The organization and distribution are insane. The money are waiting to be distributed.

Q: Difficulty when acting? (or something like that…)
A: To keep her mind focused on the set. To shut out what there is around her. She joked saying she gets distracted by shiny things and people.

Q: How did she prepare herself for the musical episode?
A: She didn’t. Damian wrote the song. She listened to the music when driving and kept singing it.
The first day of filming the crew was excited and the actors very nervous. The second day everybody on the set was singing.

Q: Does she regret a role she turned down?
A: No, she doesn’t have regret, not even about the latest role. The reason is usually her family, especially her daughter. In the end she is sure she took the right decision.

Q: Particular skills?
A: Kissing! XD Stunt-fighting. And she can fire a P90 while running. She studied Judo when she was younger. She used to run, now she prefers biking.

Q: The end of the world. Which 3 people she would bring with her through the Stargate (I think beside her family)?
A: She pointed to Dennys, Ken and Sharon who were sat in the first row.

Q: Any cravings?
A: Chocolate. 5 minutes of peace. Salad. Sex.

Q: Impression about Sanctuary cast?
A: RD = pants off (*shaked head*)
     RR = she loved the part where Henry talked to his unborn child
     CH = he’s very charming but when he’s dressed like Biggie he is aggressive and goes around hitting the crew randomly
     EU = she’s very pretty and goofy
     AD = she’s a sweetheart

Q: I think that at AT2 she said she would never sing to raise money. They asked her to sing something from Fugue.
A: She invited a girl on the stage with her and they sang…though she kept forgetting her lines and the girl had to suggest them to her!

Q: The factors she considered before choosing a new part?
A: Time. Family. Schedule. Possibly the role must be something new.

Q: How does she learn her lines?
A: She keeps repeating them, Alan helps her sometimes though she said he sounds like an FBI agent!

Q: …I think they asked her how many takes they did of the scene where she punched Will on the face. (sometimes my notes are cryptic even to me!)
A: 17 times.

Q: I don’t remember…
A: She talked about one of her trainers. She was on a mountain-bike through the woods, she fell and got a bad cut on her leg. The trainer told her “no pain no gain”. She fired him/her.

Q: What question would she ask to an actor in a Convention?
A: She said that a lot of people asked her about RDA’s kisses, so she said she would go to a Convention in disguise with the attendees and she would ask RDA “how did kissing Amanda Tapping feel?”
She then said she talked with Gillian Anderson in a limo at FanExpo.
She’d like to take a look at a Supernatural Con.

I did not cry this time!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey I even remembered my name! LOL
I asked her to sign the photo for Penny. I told her she was a girl from South Africa and she hadn’t be able to come to AT6. Julia saw the badge with my nickname and she told me she “saw” me on twitter, she asked me my real name. I replied and I said I was Italian. Amanda asked me from which part of Italy…and yes my brain kept working, so yes I did reply! LOL
Then I had another photo and Amanda asked me if I wanted to have my name on it. I said no, that I was planning to give it away too. So she asked me which name I wanted on it. I panicked for a moment because we were supposed to have just one personalized autograph so I haven’t thought about another name. But then I told her the name of an Italian girl I knew would loved the autograph.
Then I hugged Julia and then Amanda. I told her I loved her and she replied “I love you too”! <3
Amanda then gave me a little present for the AT6 attendees. A homemade bracelet from the Nepal kids.

40000£ have been raised in total during the weekend!

Before the closing ceremony Amanda called Robin and talked with him on the phone for a while.

Random thoughts about AT6:

I was totally sleep-deprived! When I went back to work the following Tuesday my coworkers told me I looked like a zombie and my boss told me “your brain is slower today! Aren’t you supposed to come back more relaxed after a holiday?” I already asked the Tuesday after LFCC off this time! :P

I’m usually shy with people I don’t know. You can ask Angie. At Chevron 7.8 it took me 2 days before I got the courage to introduce myself to her, even though I “knew” her through twitter. At AT6 I was the one who stopped people saying “I think I know you. I think I saw you on twitter”. Truth be told people at the Cons probably got to see who I really am more than my supposed RL friends. I’m not afraid to be judged for what I like to watch or do. People can even drag me on a dance floor. Go figure! It’s totally normal staying sat on the floor in the lobby talking about Sam’s hair or showing other people your twitter icon to make them understand who you are! I tried sometimes to explain the beauty of a fandom to some relatives or RL friends but I only got weird looks…
