College ⚾️ regionals are THE prime example as to why you should develop & use more than just your top 7 arms. These regionals can turn into marathons. The more arms you can trust, the better. Too many teams fall apart during this part of the season from lack of pitching depth.

The Mariners could have possibly found the next Luis Castillo. His name is Phillips Valdez. (Claimed off waivers from the Red Sox in July) Aside from some size (40 lbs) & velo differences (3 mph on FB/SL), the similarities in mechanics & pitch metrics are promising. Thread 🧵⬇️

I’m acting as the Commissioner of Major League Baseball today. Here are a few changes I would make to help remedy the injury issues we’re seeing takeoff: - 6 man rotations + increased roster sizes: extra day of rest for SPs/additional relievers. - Pitch Clock Adjustments:

Don’t know who needs to hear this, but starting pitchers shouldn’t be sniffing 90+ pitches in a start this early in the season. Build up their workload through week 5 and give your bullpen guys a chance to show some nuts. @TreadHQ @TreadAthletics

After bursting onto the scene in '22 w/ some electric stuff, Graham Ashcraft started off '23 right where he had left off: 36 IP, 26 H, 8 ER, 16 BB, 27 K, 2.00 ERA, & 3.55 FIP. Since those first six starts, things have started to go downhill fast. Here's what I found 🧵⬇️

Wilmer’s CH is coming along nicely. Early on this off-season we identified that he favors supination (two banger breaking balls & slight cut on the 4SFB). Despite this, he would force pronation on his CH (putting him behind the ball), causing it to flatten out. (1/2) ⬇️

Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Year Wilmer Flores said he battled fatigue at times during the season (he threw career-high 103.1 IP) and is addressing that in his offseason workouts. He's also working on his changeup.
