39 years ago today, Gambino mob boss Paul Castellano went to dinner at Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan. He and his driver Tommy Bilotti were gunned down as they got out of their car. It was the most spectacular gangland assassination ever. No one was ever charged in the case.

"Eddie Mush" in A Bronx Tale was a real person, in fact he is the real person. The actor was a gambler from the Bronx called Eddie Mantanaro. He met DeNiro standing in front of a bookie shop and couldn't make his first read because he had a "tip" on a daily double at a racetrack.
