Families shouldn’t be forced into impossible choices because of underfunded classrooms. We must support our schools and ensure every student, including those with disabilities so they can thrive.
Hate-fueled violence is rising, from the attacks in Buffalo, San Diego, and Jacksonville to tragedies that have touched my family. That’s why the Southern Poverty Law Center’s work remains vital, and why confronting extremism is still essential. Every community deserves safety.
June is Gun Violence Awareness Month, and that’s why I’m proud to #WearOrange and stand with my colleagues against this epidemic in our country. We can start by taking steps to pass concrete legislation like @RepLucyMcBath’s GOSAFE Act to ban dangerous gas-powered assault weapons
Yesterday, as part of Gun Violence Awareness Month, we joined leaders on Capitol Hill to highlight common-sense solutions to prevent domestic violence and gun violence.
Thank you @RepLucyMcBath, and the @DemWomenCaucus for your leadership and dedication on this issue!
Today, I joined my colleagues to push for common‑sense, evidence‑based tools to stop domestic violence. Red flag laws save lives. During Gun Violence Prevention Month, we’re calling for a vote on FERPO so families have the resources they need to prevent tragedy before it strikes.
The Trump Administration abruptly terminated more than 300 public safety grants across 37 states.
That’s why Democrats have long supported collaborative, evidence-based approaches to combat crime.
Since 2022, fewer people have been killed from gun violence and murders are down nationwide.
The reality is that crime prevention works.
But, there have been setbacks.
Today for #WearOrangeDay I hosted a Spotlight Hearing with those who are making our communities safer.
Democratic-led investments like the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and the American Rescue Plan have been paying dividends and saving lives.
I'm wearing orange today for Hadiya Pendleton, who was shot and killed in a Chicago park. My friend @RepLucyMcBath wears orange for her son Jordan, who was killed for playing loud music. 🧡
Together, we fight for the ones who should still be with us today.
Show me your orange,
This feasibility study is a critical step toward the national recognition this trail deserves.
Proud to support this bipartisan effort to preserve our outdoor heritage and honor the volunteers who keep this incredible trail accessible for all.
The Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act has passed the House!
The 288-mile Benton MacKaye Trail connects communities across Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina, welcomes more than 100,000 visitors, and is maintained by hundreds of dedicated volunteers.
This Gun Violence Awareness & Prevention Month, we remember every life stolen by gun violence and stand with the families forever changed by these tragedies.
I honor my son, Jordan, and every victim by putting forth common-sense solutions that save lives. #EndGunViolence
Happy #PrideMonth! 🏳️🌈 As a proud member of the @EqualityCaucus, I'm working alongside my colleagues in Congress to defend the LGBTQI+ community’s rights.
Pride is about more than rainbows or parades—it’s a reminder of both how far we have come and the work we must still take on.
