What an interesting year ... Summer’s epidemiologists have become winter’s agricultural experts

India Today issues, June 2003 and March 2021: They show the same woman in the same village in Limbdi, Gujarat. The contrast tells the story of the magnitude of Gujarat’s rural water revolution under (then CM) Narendra Modi, and the potential of India’s Jal Jeevan Mission

Now India formally should raise its border dispute with China — as well as China’s illegal occupation of Indian territory — at the UN. Let the Security Council discuss that as well, since it’s discussing pretty much everything these days

Bizarre equivalence, truly bizarre. The authenticity of an Indian Covid vaccine certificate can be verified online, in real time and in less than a minute. How do you do verify the authenticity of security threats?
    Replying to @myraemacdonald
Yes. The dominant Indian view is that there’s no fake certificate problem, and the dominant Pakistani view seems to be that there’s no real security threat. Would love to see some even-handed reporting, though I’m largely sympathetic to both the Indian and Pakistani positions.

The Nehrus came from Kashmir to UP. Feroze Gandhi came from Gujarat to UP. Sonia came from Italy to UP. But this Modi fellow is an outsider
#WATCH: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra says, "PM Modi claimed that UP has adopted him, but does UP need to adopt an outsider for development?"

The two most capable RBI governors in the past 20 years: Y.V. Reddy and Shaktikant Das, both understated civil servants. The two most overrated: Raghuram Rajan and Urjit Patel, who couldn’t decide if they were public servants or public intellectuals

At the swearing-in ceremony on May 30, Mr Sharad Pawar was invited to the "V section", where the most senior guests sat. Even within "V", he had a labelled first row seat. Somebody in his office may have confused V (for VVIP) for the Roman V (five)

The bright boy from a poor family in a small village near Kanpur, who came to the city for senior school — and rose to become President of India. President Kovind goes back to his old school to greet his teachers, all in their 90s. This is such a moving Indian story
Honoured to visit my alma mater BNSD Inter college and Shiksha Niketan in Kanpur and felicitate my former teachers Shri Pyare Lal (98), Shri Hari Ram Kapoor (92) and Shri TN Tandon (86) #PresidentKovind

Self-made woman politician with no family legacy; opponent of the Emergency; mesmerising speaker, whether in Hindi or even Kannada (remember that speech in Bellary?); Minister who opened MEA to the aam aadmi: Goodnight Sushma Swaraj. You always wrote your own script, to the last

Just to refute some fake news. CM Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi has very much been invited to the President’s Aug 15 At Home. Card no. 49 was delivered and it’s reception confirmed by the CM’s protocol dept. The CM’s protocol dept told a caller from RB the CM would not be attending

The idea that the market can import Pfizer and Moderna and let the rich pay thousands, while the poor get Covaxin and Covishield from the govt for free, is a hare-brained non-starter. It shows little understanding of current global Covid-19 supplies and export constraints 1/2
