- I grew up as an isolated Jew in rural Arkansas, always dreaming of going to Israel. Then I moved there in my early 20s for a job and found it to be the most terrifying, inhumane place I’ve ever been. Free Palestine.
- The folks deriding Bernie as some kind of attention-seeking egomaniac for once again serving as the only senator willing to actually fight on the floor of Congress for the poorest people in his IRA floor speech + amendments tells you way more about them than anything else.
- The most obviously and universal takeaway from stories like Theranos/The Dropout, Anna Delvey, Fyre Fest, and other hilariously corrupt and inane schemes now being popularized is that rich people, in fact, do not know how to spend their money better than the government does.
- There's something deeply fucked about a country where the political consensus is that climate action and a Green New Deal are too expensive but it's perfectly acceptable to treat the entire Gulf South as a sacrifice zone and shrug one's shoulders while Philly and New York drown.
- I dunno folks, but it seems like it might be a bad idea to listen to or otherwise elevate the ideas of someone on “climate solutions” who refuses to make covid vaccines available to India and the rest of the Global South—unless of course you’re on team eco-fascism.
Replying to @elonmuskUS national debt is ~$28,900 billion or ~$229k per taxpayer. Even taxing all “billionaires” at 100% would only make a small dent in that number, so obviously the rest must come from the general public. This is basic math. Spending is the real problem. usdebtclock.org- Folks, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, urban planning—they’re all just professional services. Like McKinsey & Co. We don’t shape culture or politics. We instrumentalize and aestheticize power. That’s it.
- I am constantly amazed at how much of the most interesting and important work re: climate, energy transitions, spatial justice happening in geography. The purging of that discipline from so many elite private universities makes way more sense to me now.
