Extracurricular activities are being attacked by individuals not knowing their importance in the educational process. These individuals want to throw the coaches to the wolves, not knowing these coaches will return leading the pack. Coaches know how to lead.

I want to thank the UIL & the powers to be for allowing sports seasons this fall. The parameters are set. Coaches do what you do best - Make this a success. Do it with a smile & whistle while you work. There is no time to make negative waves.

Senator Charles Perry filed SB 373 that would insure a biological male would not be allowed to participate on a UIL girls' sports team. If passed, by the 87th Legislature, this would help to certify only females would be allowed to play female UIL sports.

As of this morning, every UIL 1A-4A volleyball team is undefeated. By Wed., half of these teams will have at least one loss. Competition has begun in Texas. The dream has become reality. Thank-you UIL for having a vision.

UIL has established a start date of June 8 for strength & conditioning and skills training for all UIL athletes. Details are coming in the future. It has been a long time since our coaches have had an opportunity to work with their athletes. A ray of hope.

I believe we should celebrate girls & women in sports not just once a year, but on a daily basis. These individuals have fought many a battle to get where they are today with TGCA by their side since 1954.

To date, we have witnessed, in the UIL, girl's individually & girl's teams crowned state champs in cross country, team tennis, volleyball, & basketball. The purity of biological females playing & achieving in sports is a blessing to watch.

When you take sportsmanship out of an athletic contest, it is no longer a part of the educational process. Some days life is not fair. Learning how to win & how to lose is part of the learning experience.

The biggest compliment a coach can get is for one of his/her ex-players to call them Coach. The heart will swell & chill bumps will go through the body. Ex-players are always special.

UIL is accomplishing many things many people did not believe was possible. They gave our schools & coaches structure to be successful. UIL, thanks for letting TGCA be a part in the process. Our coaches, athletes, parents & fans are very appreciative.
