I am the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury. Rooted in God. Shepherding with others, nurturing confidence in the Gospel, and offering Christian hope and hospitality
- Always grateful for feedback - look forward to advice on what we should be doing in the pulpit. (Just to confirm: we’ll be continuing to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)
- Thank you @BarackObama and Chancellor #Merkel for sending these messages to the people of #Manchester when we met in Berlin today.
00:00 - To reduce dangerous journeys to the UK we need safe routes: the church will continue to advocate for them. But deportations — and the potential forced return of asylum seekers to their home countries — are immoral and shame us as a nation.
- Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace.
- Give rest, O Christ, to thy servant with thy Saints.
- My prayers, and the prayers of people across the @churchofengland and the nation, are with Her Majesty The Queen today. May God’s presence strengthen and comfort Her Majesty, her family, and those who are caring for her at Balmoral.
- The murder by terrorists of 12 Christian hostages in Nigeria has been much ignored over Christmas. With deep sorrow let us pray for them and those close to them, and for God’s judgement on their killers. They are martyrs to Christ.
- The news that our Prime Minister has been moved to intensive care deepens our compassion for all who are seriously ill and for those caring for them. I invite all people of faith to join me in praying for @BorisJohnson and his loved ones.
- Deportation of asylum seekers should shame us as a nation. Our Christian heritage should inspire us to treat vulnerable people seeking asylum with compassion, fairness and justice.
- I join the urgent call for President @realDonaldTrump to remove his Britain First retweets and make clear his opposition to racism and hatred. facebook.com/archbishopofca…
- My prayers are with @trussliz and her family following her resignation, and I give thanks for her public service to our country. We should always be grateful to those who take on the great and difficult responsibilities of leadership.
- My prayers are with The Princess of Wales, The Prince of Wales and their children at this tremendously difficult time. I join the whole country, and the world, in praying for her full recovery. I take this opportunity to praise her for her spirit of optimism in the face of such
- It was the honour of a lifetime, and among its saddest moments, to preach at the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, whose hope and faith in Jesus Christ inspired her servant leadership. archbishopofcanterbury.org/speaking-writi…
