    Instead of asking, “Are you sure? Try asking, “How sure are you?” “Are you sure” is a yes or no question. It demands unreasonable certainty. “How sure are you?” allows for shades of gray. It says uncertainty is okay. How often in a day do you casually ask, “You sure?”

    My heart is broken. My friend, mentor, and idol Danny Kahneman passed. I don’t know how to process that I won’t ever get the joy of talking to him again. The world now has a hole in it.

    Do you take your child places in a car? If your answer is yes, then you agree with @NateSilver538 and @jonathanchait that certain risks are acceptable to children. Not sure why you think you disagree here?
    If I ever end up in a place in my life where I go online and imperiously lecture how people need to recognize how cost-benefit analysis means certain risks are acceptable for their children, just shoot me
