Ping Yao
Ping Yao
I visited in between Beijing - Datong - Ping Yao - Xi’An. There seemed to be quite a few “ancient city” areas in between Beijing and Xi’An. These small old towns tend to be my favourite sort of places to travel, so I loved Ping Yao. It’s a lot nicer than Datong, and I got to see it both at night and in the morning since I stayed overnight. I recommend doing that because it’s very different at both times of day. Ivrea
Ivrea
I went in 2024 and visited every site on the tourist map, so the walk around the town was enjoyable as seeing new places generally is. Itsukushima Shrine
Itsukushima Shrine, Miyajima, magical Japan
Time of the visit : 3rd-13th of sept.,2025, during the aforementioned time period I visited Mijayima 2x times Itsukushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine located on the island of Itsukushima, which is popularly known as Miyajima, in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The entire shrine complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous for its buildings that appear to float on the water, a unique architectural feature created by constructing the shrine on pier-like structures over the bay. This design was

Niah Caves
A short visit due to flooding damage
Time of visit: 28 March 2026 Warning of closure of all except one cave, which will take some months to fix. Keep an eye on the Malaysian forestry website for updates. The Niah Caves are just recently inscribed and, together with the other two WHS in the Malaysian part of Borneo, make a great week trip, with Niah Caves taking a day if open, and Mulu at least, and Kinabalu one or two days. I arrived on the short 20-minute flight from Mulu, and if I had known all except one cave was closed, I would
