Do I have to be a CommonWealth Central Credit Union member to open a Rewards Checking Account?
Yes, you need to become a member of our credit union before you can open a Rewards Checking Account. Membership eligibility includes the following: if you live or work in Santa Clara County; you reside with a current CommonWealth member; you are a relative of a current CommonWealth member; you are an employee of a participating CommonWealth Member Company; or you reside in one of the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Monterey, San Benito, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Merced.

How do I get $100 for referring a friend to CommonWealth?
First, your friend must become a member of our credit union and then must open a Rewards Checking Account in order for you to receive the $100 referral gift.

Does my referral also get $100 for opening a Rewards Checking Account?
Yes, once your referral has successfully opened a Rewards Checking Account, we will deposit $100 into their account.

Is there a minimum balance requirement for a Rewards Checking Account?
No, there is no minimum balance to maintain for a Rewards Checking Account.
*Membership in CommonWealth required. Valid for new members and new checking only. Limit one new checking account per new member. A minimum $50 deposit is required in checking account to receive gift. Subject to $100 fee for closing account within 6 months. All new accounts will be verified by Chex Systems. Members with an existing CommonWealth checking account are not eligible. Referred member receiving cash or non-cash gifts in excess of $10 are subject to IRS reporting on form 1099-INT. Referrer receiving cash or no-cash gifts in excess of $2,000 are subject to IRS report on form 1099-MISC. Offer is subject to cancellation without notice and cannot be combined with any other offer. Maximum 5 referrals per household.
1At our discretion, we may make the funds for certain ACH credit transactions, including most payroll deposits, available to you before the scheduled payment date of the deposit. Early access to direct deposit funds depends on the timing of the submission of the payment file from the payer. We generally make these funds available on the day the payment file is received, which may be up to 2 days earlier than the scheduled payment date.
