Meet Gaylon Tootle!
A remarkable individual who dedicated his life to advocating for voting rights, particularly within the Georgia disability community. Born blind, Gaylon graduated from the University of Georgia and served as vice president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. His unwavering belief in advocacy was a driving force in his work.

Gaylon’s legacy lives on through Save My Vote!, which continues to thrive under the leadership of Stacey Ramirez and many passionate community connectors, including his brother Stancil. The organization is currently focused on developing a documentary and informing their audience about voting resources, especially in light of changes brought by Georgia’s Election Integrity Act of 2021.
Gaylon also left a lasting impact on our team at Walton Options for Independent Living in Augusta, GA. His commitment to the community still inspires us all.

Leroy F Moore Jr is a well-known disability advocate who has dedicated his life to fighting for minorities and the rights of people with disabilities. Moore has been a strong voice in the disability community for over 30 years. He is the founder of Krip-Hop Nation, an international collective of disabled hip-hop artists and activists, and has written several books on disability culture and activism. Moore`s work has been instrumental in bringing attention to the intersectionality of disability and race, and he continues to inspire others to fight for a more inclusive and accessible world.

Meet Markeith Price,
A visually impaired Paralympic athlete who reached the finals in the 400 m and long jump at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games. He won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships and currently holds U.S. Association of Blind Athletes records in the 200 m, 400 m, 800 m, and long jump. A TSU graduate in 2012, he is also the founder and president of the I C You Foundation, which provides scholarships for visually impaired students. Meet Baseball`s Living Legend, Curtis John Pride!
Former professional baseball outfielder who is deaf. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1993 to 2006 for teams including the Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, and Anaheim Angels / Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Curtis is one of the few players who is able to bat left-handed and throw right-handed. In 2015, he was honored as MLB`s Ambassador for Inclusion. Heserved as the head baseball coach at Gallaudet University until 2024.

Meet Joyce Ardell Jackson!
Born in 1947 in Berkeley, California. After graduating from Santa Clara University, she began her career at the Berkeley Center for Independent Living. She served three terms on the national board of the American Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities, attended meetings in Washington, D.C., and traveled to address Section 504 inquiries. Jackson also worked as a disability counselor for nonprofits and as a telecommunications support representative before retiring in the 1990s.
