Adela Webb is a self-taught mosaic artist with a diverse background encompassing textiles, photography, and graphics. Despite lacking formal training in mosaic art, her qualifications and working experience in various creative fields have significantly influenced her artistic journey.

In December 2015, Adela ventured into mosaic art for the first time, prompted by receiving stained glass as a Christmas gift. Her artistic exploration took root and flourished from that point onward.

Adela’s life has been marked by frequent relocations, including a notable nine-year stint in the USA. During her time in San Diego, California, she discovered inspiration in the works of artist Niki De Saint Phalle, particularly at the Queen Califia’s Magical Circle sculpture garden. Niki’s mosaic sculptures left an enduring impression on Adela, shaping the direction of her own mosaic endeavours.

Adela’s artistic expression finds its voice through the vibrant and expressive materials she employs. Her passion for colour and pattern radiates through her mosaics, characterized by intricate swirls, curves, and elements inspired by both nature and spirituality. Each piece reflects not only her artistic talent but also the diverse experiences that have shaped her creative journey.

The magic of mosaic is not just in the finished product but bringing people together in a shared experience. So gather around your friends and family for a workshop or one of Adela’s many take-away kits for a unique and delightful experience for everyone involved.

Surfing with Atlantic Pursuits

Surfing with Atlantic Pursuits

SURFING AND BODY BOARDING WITH ATLANTIC PURSUITS
Ever wondered about the differences between surfing and body/boogie boarding? Allow us to shed some light on the nuances:

Surfing:

The objective is to catch a wave substantial enough for you to stand on the board and ride the wave. By using long boards, extending up to 9 feet, these are easier to balance on and control. It’s a thrilling activity where you typically remain within chest-depth waters to catch a wave. Our instructors are on hand to assist you in catching the perfect wave, providing you with the optimal opportunity to ride the board with style and skill.

Body/Boogie Boarding:
On the other hand, body or boogie boarding employs a much smaller board, especially suitable for smaller children. This activity is typically confined to the safe swimming area, offering a secure and enjoyable experience.

In essence, whether you choose the exhilarating ride of surfing or the family-friendly fun of body/boogie boarding, Atlantic Pursuits ensures a memorable aquatic adventure tailored to your preferences.

Why opt for Atlantic Pursuits?

Canoe Canal Adventures with Shoreline Extreme Sports

Canoe Canal Adventures with Shoreline Extreme Sports

Canoeing, or Canadian Canoeing, allows a group of people (typically two, but can accommodate up to four) to paddle a large open-cockpit canoe. One key distinction between an open canoe and a kayak is the type of paddle used; canoes utilize single-bladed paddles, whereas kayaks use double-ended paddles.

Shoreline’s canoeing courses primarily take place on the historic rural Bude Canal, which meanders up the Neat Valley for nearly two miles. This canal offers an ideal setting to teach canoeing techniques in a safe and sheltered environment.

For the Canal Canoe Adventure, you’ll be equip you with a canoe and provide initial instruction on paddling and maneuvering techniques. After some practice time, you’ll get a brief and you’ll be provided a challenge map before allowing you to venture off on your own to explore the canal and discover the answers to the challenge’s questions. It’s a fantastic experience for groups or families, ensuring everyone stays engaged and entertained, including your furry friends!
