About DBVI

The Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) is a Virginia state agency that helps people who are blind, vision impaired, or deafblind. DBVI offers special programs and services to help individuals of all ages. The aim is to gain the skills and confidence they need to live more independently, go to school, and get a job.

DBVI’s main goal is to help people who are blind find and keep good jobs. They offer services like job training, help with writing resumes, preparing for interviews, and finding the right job. Some people also train to run snack bars or vending stands in public buildings.

Another option is working with Virginia Industries for the Blind (VIB). VIB offers jobs at two plant locations in Charlottesville and Richmond, and in stores and offices across Virginia.
