Self initiated explainer animation
This animation started as a self initiated project during my time at Clarify, where I had a few hours each month set aside for personal development. I used that time to make an animation from scratch, both to push my skills and to work on something I actually cared about.
The starting point was Dennis Storm's book Weg Ermee, which is about decluttering and letting go of what you don't need. Having moved a few times and gone through that process myself, I wanted to make something that captured why simplifying your life can feel like a relief.
I developed the concept, wrote the script, made the storyboard and handled the animation myself. A couple of colleagues at Clarify helped along the way, Joris gave feedback on the script and Else helped me sharpen the storyboard.
It's the biggest personal project I've done so far. The animation tries to convey that lightness you feel when you get rid of the excess, the idea that owning less and focusing on what matters can be genuinely freeing. A subject that's close to me personally, which made it a good one to spend time on.
