Intro to AV Script
AV scripts are the unsung heroes of many video productions. They make crystal clear what you'll be shooting and how it will be worked into your project as a whole.
In this course, we walk through how to create the little-known but very important two-column script format.
Lesson 1 — How to Write an AV Script

In this first lesson, we will show you how to get started writing an AV Script from scratch.
Lesson 2 — Getting Started with AV Scripts

In this episode, we start by explaining the form and function of an AV script. Otherwise known as two-column scripts, the format at its core is very basic but highly functional and practical.
With one column for audio and the other for video, creators can precisely align the audio and visuals here in pre-production which will allow for a much more efficient production and post-production. If you're working for clients, this also allows them to see what the video will look and sound like.
Lesson 3 — How to Populate an AV Script

In this episode, we continue with some tips and techniques on how to write an AV script.
First, in the audio column, you can add anything that would end up on the soundtrack, including music, sound effects, dialogue, narration, etc. Make sure to format and/or label each type of sound so that it is clear to everyone else.
In the video column, you can add any descriptions you need for what we will see in that particular moment. This would include character actions, shot specs like framing and camera movement, graphics, text, etc.
Lesson 4 — How to Collaborate on AV Scripts

In this episode, we continue with how best to collaborate on an AV script. Team-based collaboration is at the heart of writing and producing AV scripts. This is why StudioBinder's AV script software was designed with collaboration tools built in.
Lesson 5 — Export and Share AV Scripts

In this episode, we continue with the final steps of sharing and exporting your AV script as you head into production. Creating a final PDF version is extremely useful and, in StudioBinder, it's fully customizable.
You can show or hide columns as needed, choose the ideal layout, add page numbers, select styling like font size and color, insert watermarks, and include front and/or back covers. In the end, you'll have a document that fits your needs to a T.
