The San Mateo County Board of Education has named Deputy Superintendent Marco Chávez as San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools following the retirement of Nancy Magee. Magee announced her retirement effective February 19, 2026.

Nancy Magee to Retire as San Mateo County Superintendent After Strong Legacy of Impactful Leadership
San Mateo County Superintendent of Schools Nancy Magee announced she will retire effective February 19, 2026.

The California Department of Education has released the 2025 California School Dashboard, which provides educators and families with information on school and district progress towards improving student learning and outcomes.
