Red Panda Outpost – Homestay Retreat Near Singalila National Park
Welcome to Red Panda Outpost - a quiet refuge in the Eastern HimalayasPerched on the misty ridges of Jaubari, a small village nestled on the India-Nepal border near Singalila National Park, Red Panda Outpost is an intimate homestay for travelers drawn to the wild, and the starting point for one of the most sought-after red panda tours in India.
The landscape is home to one of the Eastern Himalayas' most elusive and enchanting creatures: the red panda. These gentle animals make their homes in the region's high-altitude forests, moving discreetly among the bamboo, rhododendron and oak trees.
To honor these arboreal inhabitants, and drawing inspiration from the numerous army outposts that stand like quiet sentinels across the remote frontiers of our nation, we have named our homestay Red Panda Outpost.
This remote retreat serves as a gateway to experiencing their world up close, and carries the legacy of the land; it was once a simple wooden teahouse run by a local family, whose roots trace back to Gorkha soldiers.
In the face of vast and remote terrains, soldiers rely on army outposts for rest, comfort, sustenance and shared stories. In the same spirit, Red Panda Outpost is a haven for explorers seeking the wild beauty of Singalila and its contiguous forests. After a day spent on a red panda tour through the mist-laden forests in search of a flash of red fur in the treetops, this humble sanctuary offers quiet refuge, and the chance to move with the rhythms of the mountains.
Guests are greeted with simple comforts like a hot meal, a warm bed, a cosy fire and the company of like minded travelers. Here, instead of simply passing through, you become part of a timeless story, woven into the fabric of this land.
