{"id":72091,"date":"2018-01-25T17:19:23","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T17:19:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/?p=72091"},"modified":"2018-02-01T14:34:49","modified_gmt":"2018-02-01T14:34:49","slug":"public-services-students-achieve-citizenship-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/public-services-students-achieve-citizenship-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Services students achieve citizenship awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<div  class='avia-slideshow av-av_slideshow-850714b432a31055e34a1d50ec8f456b avia-slideshow-featured_large av_slideshow avia-slide-slider  avia-builder-el-0  el_before_av_textblock  avia-builder-el-first  av-slideshow-ui av-control-default av-slideshow-manual av-loop-once av-loop-manual-endless av-default-height-applied avia-slideshow-1' data-slideshow-options=\"{&quot;animation&quot;:&quot;slide&quot;,&quot;autoplay&quot;:false,&quot;loop_autoplay&quot;:&quot;once&quot;,&quot;interval&quot;:5,&quot;loop_manual&quot;:&quot;manual-endless&quot;,&quot;autoplay_stopper&quot;:false,&quot;noNavigation&quot;:false,&quot;bg_slider&quot;:false,&quot;keep_padding&quot;:false,&quot;hoverpause&quot;:false,&quot;show_slide_delay&quot;:0}\"  itemprop=\"image\" itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\" ><ul class='avia-slideshow-inner ' style='padding-bottom: 42%;'><li  class='avia-slideshow-slide av-av_slideshow-850714b432a31055e34a1d50ec8f456b__0  av-single-slide slide-1 slide-odd'><div data-rel='slideshow-1' class='avia-slide-wrap '   ><div class='av-slideshow-caption av-av_slideshow-850714b432a31055e34a1d50ec8f456b__0 avia-caption'><div class=\"avia-inner-caption\"><div class='avia-caption-content '  itemprop=\"description\" ><p>Public Services students celebrate with Course Manager Toni Ashling and NCS representatives<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"wp-image-72101 avia-img-lazy-loading-not-72101\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/All-students-NCS-reps-Toni-Ashling-1500x630.jpg\" width=\"1500\" height=\"630\" title='All students NCS reps Toni Ashling' alt=''  itemprop=\"thumbnailUrl\"   \/><\/div><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-2de302bf1aa3cf4c9157dbe6f50ac7eb '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Forty of our public services students have achieved <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncsyes.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Citizen Service<\/a> (NCS) awards after running community projects which raised over \u00a3700.<\/p>\n<p>The NCS scheme, which is mainly government funded and open to 16 and 17 year olds, aims to encourage young people to take part in social action programmes while building work and life skills and developing socially and personally.<\/p>\n<p>Offered for the first time as a bespoke programme within our public services curriculum, the course gave students the chance to take part in four days of adventurous outdoor activities in North Yorkshire followed by three days of community training and upskilling on subjects such as first aid, charity awareness, money skills from Barclays and sexual health workshops, delivered in college.<\/p>\n<p>The students, who are studying on our Level 2, Level 3 Subsidiary and Level 3 (90 credit) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/public-services\/\">Diplomas in Public Services<\/a>, then had to develop and run team projects which would help organisations in their community.<\/p>\n<p>Divided into three teams, our students completed a total of 672 hours organising and running their activities and raised over \u00a3700 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stlukes-hospice.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St Lukes (Cheshire) Hospice,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopehouse.org.uk\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hope House Children\u2019s Hospices<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shine-bright-foundation.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shine Bright Foundation<\/a>, which funds research into breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Their activities included football tournaments, an 11 mile sponsored walk, a three hour gym endurance challenge, raffles and a tombola.<\/p>\n<p>The students were congratulated at a college awards ceremony by Charlotte Rowbotham, NCS Area Manager for Cheshire East, who said: \u201cThis was a great achievement by Reaseheath public services students.
