Students also engaged with the public as part of an initiative to educate tourists on matters concerning conservation, habitat and the dangers posed to marine wildlife by pollution.<\/p>\n<p>After each trip, students returned to the AWF\u2019s Research Hub to download their findings. The images collected of fin shape, scars and other specific markings were used to identify resident species.<\/p>\n<p>Students enjoyed other opportunities such as a visit the island\u2019s capital Santa Cruz so that they could experience the culture.<\/p>\n<p>Tour organisers, Susan Huxley and Jodie Cutler said: \u201cThis study tour was a great opportunity for countryside students from different courses to work together. There was a crossover of information which linked perfectly to course content and learning outcomes. The students broadened their understanding of marine pollution, marine habitats and aquatic science, while links to conservation where also explored. It is hoped that this kind of study tour will become a regular event.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\"
