Having previously been commissioned to update Tattenhall\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tattenhallhistory.co.uk\/tattenhall-village-sign\/\" target=\"_blank\">village sign<\/a>, Andrew was delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the community once again.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-44612\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1797-300x241.jpeg\" alt=\"IMG_1797\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1797-300x241.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1797-495x400.jpeg 495w, https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1797-450x362.jpeg 450w, https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_1797.jpeg 596w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Christened \u2018George\u2019 by local primary school pupils, the horse was unveiled to crowds by the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, David Briggs MBE, K.St.J., on Monday 4th August. George has now taken permanent residence adjacent to the Tattenhall War Memorial.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew studied on the City and Guild\u2019s \u2018015\u2019 agricultural engineering and farm mechanisation course 1978-79, back in the days when we were known as the \u2018Cheshire College of Agriculture\u2019. Speaking fondly of his time at college, Andrew commented: \u201cCollege provided me with a great set of skills and grounding in the basics of engineering, which has certainly stayed with me as I\u2019ve progressed in my career. One thing we made as part of the course was a toolbox \u2013 and I actually still use that to this day. I also made a drawbar to put on a trailer or back of a car, I\u2019ve still got that too \u2013 some things are truly timeless!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With an interest in the blacksmith\u2019s craft from a young age, Andrew spent much of his early career researching, self-teaching and essentially \u2018working and learning\u2019 simultaneously to build up his forging techniques and skills.<\/p>\n<p>After working in the agricultural industry for some time after finishing college, Andrew decided it was time to dedicate his workload to his passion.
