{"id":32507,"date":"2013-11-20T14:36:50","date_gmt":"2013-11-20T14:36:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/?p=32507"},"modified":"2014-10-31T09:10:54","modified_gmt":"2014-10-31T09:10:54","slug":"apprentice-helps-to-grow-dog-grooming-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/apprentice-helps-to-grow-dog-grooming-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Apprentice helps to grow dog grooming business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Cheshire dog grooming parlour is successfully using the government\u2019s apprenticeship programme to develop its workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Mayers, owner\u00a0 of The Groom Room in Saltney, has seen her\u00a0 well established business thrive since employing 19 year-old\u00a0 Bethan Roberts.\u00a0 Bethan , a former Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management student at \u00a0Reaseheath College, Nantwich, joined The Groom Room for work experience and so impressed Angela that she was offered a permanent position.<\/p>\n<p>The young animal lover, who has always wanted to work with dogs, now has a paid job grooming, bathing and drying canine clients. \u00a0As an advanced apprentice, she is continuing to gain specific dog grooming qualifications at her workplace and is regularly visited by work based assessors from Reaseheath.\u00a0 She had been introduced to dog grooming previously during her college course.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Mayers has been part of the thriving business community in Saltney for seven years. The Groom Room offers an individual service for all breeds of dog and clients travel in from as far as Cumbria to take advantage of specialised processes such as hand stripping.<\/p>\n<p>Said Angela: \u201cThe training Bethan received from Reaseheath College was excellent but, by taking advantage of the apprenticeship programme, I\u2019ve been able to offer her the opportunity to gain more qualifications and practical experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe apprenticeship programme is a great scheme and has made a real difference to my business as well as to Bethan\u2019s future career. \u00a0It\u2019s developed to guidelines so the training is nationally recognised and well supported by workbased assessors. \u00a0I \u2018d\u00a0 urge all businesses to take advantage of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBethan lives near Ellesmere Port and is a former pupil at the Catholic High School, Chester.
