Driven by increasing industrialisation and a rapidly expanding population, Algeria‘s printing and packaging industry is experiencing robust growth.
• Imports of printing and paper technology surged from €57 million in 2016 to €131 million in 2024, solidifying Algeria as one of the three largest importers of printing and paper technology in Africa, together with South Africa and Egypt.
• With €225m in 2024, Algeria is the largest importer of packaging technology in Africa, ahead of Egypt (€192m), South Africa (€185m), Morocco (€152) and Nigeria (€121m). (VDMA)

Sabine Geldermann, Director drupa and Global Head Print Technologies with Messe Duesseldorf points out: “According to VDMA, Algeria’s imports of printing and paper technology surged by 19.4% annually, from €77 million in 2021 to €131 million in 2024, solidifying Algeria as the third-largest importer in Africa, trailing only South Africa (€173m) and Egypt (€146m).”
