More than 97% of nurses say the management of air in line (AIL)—the unforeseen presence of gas or air in IV tubing—causes concerns for patients and problems for their nursing practice, according to study results published in the February 2026 issue of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. The authors addressed the minimal literature published on AIL and called for further research and development of new technologies to limit manual AIL interventions. 

From ABCNews.com: Cigarette smoking among U.S. adults continues to fall to record low levels as e-cigarette use rises, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published in March 2026. Nearly 10% of adults in the U.S. smoked cigarettes in 2024, the report found. This is down from about 11% in 2023, CDC data shows.

Overall, 81.2% of pediatric oncology clinical trials are conducted in high-income countries, according to study results published in the January 2026 issue of JAMA Network Open. The researchers identified a need for increased research capacity in low- and middle-income countries that often have limited resources to conduct clinical trials. 

Among individuals with lung cancer, acupuncture treatment may reduce the incidence of insomnia symptoms by 50%, researchers reported in the December 2025 issue of Supportive Care in Cancer. Previous studies have shown acupuncture to be effective for symptom management, and the new findings further demonstrate its myriad applications in cancer care.

Tislelizumab-jsgr (Tevimbra^®) is a programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) blocking antibody approved in the United States in 2024 for the treatment of certain esophageal and gastric cancers. It is administered via IV and works by enhancing the immune system’s ability to target cancer cells. 

Rural cancer survivors are about 10% more likely to experience chronic pain than their urban counterparts, according to study results published in the December 2025 issue of JAMA Network Open.
