Prepare, Recover, Restore: Gentle Core & Pelvic Floor Wellness

A 4-class body literacy series at the Barrington Public Library · Starts March 26 9:30–10:30 AM ET

This isn't a lecture. It's an invitation to feel your own body — maybe for the first time.

We'll meet on yoga mats in the Collis Family Gallery at the Barrington Public Library, move slowly, breathe intentionally, and explore what it actually feels like to connect with your pelvic floor.

No anatomy quiz.

No prior experience needed. Just you, your body, and a little curiosity.

Open to all. Especially supportive for pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

What to bring:

Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing suitable for gentle movement and floor work. Bring a yoga mat if you have one — extras will be available. Registration is required through the library — register once and you're in for the entire series.

The Series

Session 1 - Getting to Know Your Pelvic Floor

Thursday, March 26 · 9:30–10:30 AM

Getting acquainted. Where is it? What does it feel like — right now, in your body? We'll use gentle hands-on exploration and breath to begin finding and feeling your pelvic floor for the first time.

Session 2 - Your Pelvic Floor & Your Nervous System

Thursday, April 9 · 9:30–10:30 AM

Stress lives in the body. We'll explore how tension, anxiety, and safety show up in your pelvic floor — and what actually helps it release.

Session 3 - Tight vs. Weak — Understanding Your Patterns

Friday, April 24 · 9:30–10:30 AM

Not every pelvic floor needs the same thing. Learn to feel the difference between holding and letting go — and why strengthening isn't always the answer.

Session 4 - Breath, Pressure & Whole-Body Connection

Thursday, May 14 · 9:30–10:30 AM

Your diaphragm and pelvic floor breathe together. Feel how your whole core moves as one connected system — and take that awareness home.

Continue the Work Between Sessions

For those who want continued, structured support beyond the series, Lorie recommends Restore Your Core® — a guided program for pelvic floor and core healing that pairs beautifully with the foundation we build here together.

After each class, return here for practice videos, reference materials, and tools to keep exploring between sessions.

"I’ve had a complicated relationship with my body for a long time. This class created a space where I could learn about my pelvic floor without pressure or judgment. The way Lorie teaches made it feel safe to reconnect with my body at my own pace."
