ABOUT ME

My name is Mitchell Dodell. I am a Junior at Brandeis University studying Computer Science and Business with specializations in Applied Methods and Management. Born and raised in the 120° landscape that is Arizona, I traded my sunglasses and ever-present air conditioning for a pair of Timbs and a winter coat in my pursuit of education in the East Coast.

If I can't be found picking out the best theme for my IDE, you can find me finding exploring the many restaurants that line Moody Street in Waltham or playing Overwatch with Brandeis E-Sports team!

WHAT I DO

I'm a Full Stack Developer with a passion for entrepreneurship. When I am not messing around with CSS in the Javascript Console or learning new frameworks, I serve as President of the TAMID Group at Brandeis where we empower students to consult for Israeli start-ups.

I'm also the Lead Organizer for Codestellation, Brandeis's annual 24-hour Friendly Hackathon. If I wasn't busy enough, I am also an Ambassador Coordinator at Brandeis Undergraduate Admissions and a Technology Specialist at Brandeis's Sound and Image Media Studies.

WHAT I'VE DONE

You can find some of my previous (and ongoing!) work on my GitHub. Please note that some of my projects may be private, due to non-disclosure agreements.

I spent my 2018 summer working as a Full-Stack Software Engineer at an amazing DJ event-management start-up called Vibo. This past summer, I worked at DICK's Sporting Goods as a Software Engineer Intern on the Universal Planning team where I created a search function to better enable marketers to plan events. Finally, I worked as a Project Management Intern at Phoenix Children's Hospital for two years, where I had the opportunity to work on the Bedside Entertainment Project, a project that put a personal iPad in every patient room.

More work coming soon!

I will update this page as I work on future work!
Currently, I am working on creating an application called saptours which will allow my colleagues at Brandeis Undergraduate Admissions to auto-assign tour guide shifts each month using React and Firebase. I also have some secret projects in the works, which will be posted here in the coming months as they release!

Testimonials

See what people who have worked with me have to say!
Mitchell joined Vibo as a full stack developer intern during the summer of 2018 under my mentorship. With only a little experience with our specific technological stack; in a short amount of time and tons of motivation, Mitchell managed to build an amazing end-to-end product that our customers will soon be using. He taught himself the related technologies needed for the product, and managed to overcome many obstacles in the development process. Mitchell is a highly motivated and exceptional young developer that I am sure will be very beneficial to anyone that will have him work for them. I highly recommend him and wish him the best of luck during his career!

Brilliant — would be the best word I could use to describe the amazing Mitchell Dodell. Besides always being energetic, positive, warm and funny, Mitchell’s mind is continually turning — observing, examining, questioning, and looking for solutions for how things could be designed to work better and more efficiently. He seems to require little sleep to keep him going at all hours of the day and night. Mitchell is a communicator, and always quickly responds to any queries I make of him. It has been my great pleasure to know and to with him in multiple capacities over the past 3 or 4 years, and he has provided exceptional leadership and creative technological solutions for our Rotary-sponsored Interact District in Arizona.
